First car was a used superrr old Benz, then switched to the evo x mr until quickly dead even trading it for the z at 22 with some help from my parents after I saved some college money through USAF. Bro has '11 sti which we trade off evenly throughout the year. Setting it up for snow rally by this winter!

21 years old when I bought my first used Z in '85.
(Oh wait, that was an '82 Z-28 Indy Pace car, sorry.)

I'm 47 years old & got my first 370Z 6 months ago.
(Yeah, I'm old enough to be yo' momma!)

Now regarding insurance, you guys are gonna choke.
After doing the math, I pay $354.04 every 6 months, which is $59 a month.
Insurance company...Farm Bureau.
(Clean driving record, on paper that is, & bundle insurance package w/discounts.)

What can I say, guys...sometimes it PAYS to be the "older woman"?
Yeah, that works for me.

WOW, look at those numbers! I guess the banks are laughing, because when I was in my 20's I couldn't afford a Z. Now that I'm an empty-nester (spending the kid's inheritance) and have no mortgage, I can pay cash (as I did).

Just can't believe how young most who own a Z are....

Just because someone is young doesn't mean they're financing it irresponsibly...I paid cash for mine.

Sorry, I should have rephrased that.... "most" "young" people don't have the financial "capability" to purchase a car of this value (and insurance to go with it!).

Probably fair. There's definitely a lot if people making questionable financial moves to drive the z...the z cars have always kind of been like that though, I guess.

I just wanna point out, this is just how i think, the reason you can't understand why Kids between 20-29 can afford these cars is because the Z community is the most responsible one especially on this site as far as i have seen in my few weeks here, now back to young'n owning these car's the car is expensive for your average 20-30 y.o but if you search and really want the car you will make damn sure you find a job you know you can afford the car even if you don't enjoy your job, just because you love the Z. Me myself am in the middle of all of this, i was quoted at $270/month at 21 years old i have an Altima now 2009 and i pay $250/month so not much of a jump

this is just IMO...love this site lol

Speak for yourself (or age group). There are plenty of adults over 40 that contributed to the financial situation of the country right now so being a certain age doesnt mean anything when it comes to financial responsibility.

Dont look past younger people that actually work hard and buy things the same way you do. I worked my way to what I have the same way as you do, lots has changed since you were 20.

We get tired of being branded with that "generation" speak and how our generation is worthless.

I don't think he was necessarily saying young people make bad financial decisions, but that most that young haven't had the time to build up enough money to buy a 30k+ car. You don't need to be financially irresponsible to not have enough for the car. There are obviously exceptions, but most people who are 20 prob haven't been working long enough to be able to afford it, not that they make bad decisions or anything.

Having a sports car when you're young reaps a lot more benefits than being able to pay for it in cash later in life.... jus sayin, it's true.
