I would use it towards building a new house the way the wife and I want it, and rent out the house we own now. Probably save a chunk towards the next Z and bank the rest.

liquor and hores, cigeretts and dope and mustard and bologna
( any trailer park boys fans out there?) |
Car: GT-R
If no car, take 10K for fun money, trip, etc. Leaves 90k, take about 50k and structure a bond ladder (40k left), 10k for my chick to sit on (30k left), 20k for some long term investments (10k left) and 10k for some short term (not day) trading. If no investing and no car, I'd hit up vegas for a weekend try to double or triple it. |

However, it is in theory possible to defeat the density method. Most of the metals denser than gold are also pretty rare and hard to come by. But, for example, you can buy Iridium at somewhere around half the price of gold, and since it's slightly denser, you'd just need to mix it with something lighter (or drill a few holes) to make a mostly-Iridium object seem to have the same density as gold. Perhaps if you encased it in an outer layer of actual gold, nobody would notice unless they somehow scanned the inner structure with pretty advanced instruments (or cut or melted the object).
It would take a lot of up-front capital to pull off a scam like that with any chance of success. |

Pay off current car and invest most of the rest into real estate.
|
Car related?
Pay off line of credit which would then let me sell current downtown condo for a nice house with a garage (although we don't want to go suburbs, so pricey town house) Put a nice 10K into the garage for my Z to sleep nicely Spend another 5-10K on the modifications I had on my wish list. |
Pay off loans and other bills. But since this is a car forum and if I had to spend it on a car I buy either one of the following used but in very good condition:
Aston Martin DB9 Ferrari 360 Spider Lamborghini Diablo VT |
I used to think I'd want one of those exotic cars if I could afford it. I don't think I understood then what "affording" a car like that really means. The sticker price doesn't even begin to tell the story, and really an exotic is pointless unless you track it, and if you're tracking it that means "incidents" are going to happen too.
So for example, if I can barely afford to buy a $100K sportscar, I can't possibly afford to really enjoy it. The cheap way to track enjoyment is low-end cheap cars that make reasonable track platforms (e.g. used MX-5 Miatas). I'd like to think our 370Zs represent a nice middle of the road option though. More expensive to play with than a used Miata, but not as expensive to play with as a Porsche :) |
1. Pay off my Z06, keep it until the C7Z06 came out.
2. Buy a Registered Drop In Auto-Sear for my Noveske AR build. 3. Save the rest of the $$ and add to it and in another 2 years buy a house/property. |

Sorry, but I found it amusing. |
I would buy 25,000 shares of DZZ
PowerShares DB Gold Double Short ETN: NYSE:DZZ quotes & news - Google Finance ... double-short gold The gold lemmings are going to suffer all the way down to $1,200 an ounce! http://assets.sbnation.com/imported_...yson_teeth.jpg |
2 weeks in Bora Bora with the family and cover expenses and pay down mortgage with whatevers left over.
|
Buy a vacation Condo. That's what I am doing now, but I'll have to do a mortgage without that cash laying around. Otherwise it would go into long term investments with the rest of my cash.
Car is perfect stock and will keep me happy for 5 years or so. Then I'd do a GTR maybe, or a Cayman. |
I actually just "made" $132,000 in the last 10 minutes on the phone with my lender.
I got my mortgage refinanced into a 15 year at 3.6%, from a 30yr at 5.15%, which saves me $132k of interest. I can't spend that money on cars for some years yet though..... With the market dropping, money going into treasuries, the yield is down to record lows. Time to Cha Ching. |
nice... in a 5/1 at 3.25%... silver lining in this economy for sure

But I've been wrongly calling the top of gold (George Soros, seems to be doing the same, LOL) for awhile now... It's due for a drop, and the price action/volume is pointing to some technical signs for a breakdown. On the sidelines for now, but DZZ's on my watch list - only concern is it's thinly traded. |
cool... unless you are a hedge fund and move markets, you can never be "right" on a commodities position... just go
In the case of gold, it looks like a long-term bubble... I think there are a lot of scared people out there... sadly lemmings... any time I hear radio advertisements for old people to invest their money in a class of investment, I do the opposite... And then you can simply look at a 7-year chart I will ride DZZ down to 1,400-1,500 / oz... bought at 4/sh Also, why worry about the volume on dzz? it correlates perfectly to gold spot, and the sponsor is solid |
$100k is life changing money so I'd pay a few bills off. Develop a long term diverse investment Portfolio. And put some cash in the bank for emergencies.
