The evo is a four door honda accord look alike POS from a company that makes TV's.!! If I needed a four door I would have bought a WRX. I really dont care if it is faster around a race track. Why are they in the same category. I mean a two seater sports car against a four door sedan that looks just like every other jap gas saver?:icon14: If you want a sedan that sets you apart from others by all means buy a CTS or 5-series.

I know when I was looking at cars I was comparing the 370Z, Evo, and WRX. The reason I went with the the 370Z is that i got what I wanted at a reasonable price. In order to get what I wanted in the EVO or WRX, I was looking at quite a bit more money. I say performance wise between the 370 and Evo, it is a toss up. Take both for a spin and see what suits your style better. I prefer the looks and handling characteristics of the 370 so that is what I got. The fact that I got what I wanted was a huge + If I could have got an Evo with the options I wanted for the same price it would have been a tougher choice though.

I agree and disagree on what you said. Yes its a good idea to upgrade the brakes and fluid if tracking. We had a evo driver at the track on the 2nd ofthe night, spray brake fluid all over his engine bay becausr he hit boiling point. Bit then again he has alot of power mods. I'm talking stock for stock the evo can handle the track better. You shouldnt have to buy a $700 oil cooler just to do some weekend track days.

I give you that on the oil cooler. I can't disagree with you more on the track pads/fluid. If you want to go fast, you just can't do it consistently with the stock pads/fluid or even stock tires. Your local track is relatively slow compare to most tracks across North America, you do not want to fly into a corner at 120 and have question about your brakes. I sold my 350Z after I had a scary incident of losing my brakes.

At the end of the day, I have great respect for the EVO. They are much easier to drive fast and they are a toss up in terms of dry performance with the Z. It's all personal choice at the end of the day. I see them dominate tons of amateur track days, but then none of them are close to stock.

I completely agree with this guy, a screen shot from the EVO forum that he posted. I enjoy this site because the way one is able to converse with others, but reading through some of these quotes has given me flashback to the Honda forums :argue: Let's not turn into that, AK370Z has done a wonderful job in the way he carries this site, let's not insult the man :twocents: nothing wrong with having a little fun.

And that's the truth.

From wikipedia: A sports car is a small, usually two seat, two door automobile designed for high speed driving and maneuverability. Sports cars have been either spartan or luxurious, but good handling, minimum weight, and high performance are requisite.

From thefreedictionary.com:
Sports Car- a production car designed for speed, high acceleration, and manoeuvrability, having a low body and usually adequate seating for only two persons.

After having ridden in Evos and STi, i know for a fact the back seats are a cruel joke. i wouldn't want to ride back there more than a couple miles on smooth roads.

No experience with the honda forums, but so far except for the couple troll posts we have been having a pretty civil discussion about it. Granted it has veered off topic but still a civil debate. It's funny that if you read the Evo forums, they are having the same exact discussion.

I agree, and it started off well, until they were side tracked with the M3, then the Mustang and then the 70. I came across their post because of a good buddy of mine that owns a 11' EVO mention how sore and bent out of shape many were getting over the specs from the cars tested(he's also a Z fan), I assumed our folks would of taken it better since many of us are aware of the variables that impacted the results with the cars we drive everyday, that's all ;)
And yes, a civil debate indeed.

At the very least the "sport package" should prevent limp mode and massive brake fade. These are not new issues, and Nissan should rightfully be embarassed that a freakin VW or Mini doesn't have the same issues.

lol

Nothing more rediculous than an online argument. :shakes head:

Everyone should just get what they want. Rock a Miata if you want, get an EVO if you want a cereal box toy (I'm kidding!), rock a 1985 pickup with a gun rack that has a shotgun and a shovel mounted. Who the heck cares?

Ok...let's focus on what's really important. Is 7AT really faster than 6MT? :stirthepot:

The Miata is a fantastic roadster. The Mazda folks bought 3 classic Lotus Elan coupe's and did their homework. Its a great DRIVERS car. Many folks love to drive no matter how their wrists look!

Most people are not able to even get that car to its limits and drive it properly much less the higher powered cars they also may like or own.

The folks at TopGear continually rate the car as the best of its class. Too bad you think in terms of sterotypes much less understanding how good the car is.

I love sportscars of all types and sizes. The Miata is fantastic.
