EVOAxe has some very valid points. The Z in stock tune and weight really isnt much of a competitor for EVO in raw performance numbers. It falls behind most cars in pure performance. I might contend that sticker and actual sales prices of Nismos differ quite a bit. So Nismo should be used when looking at track stats. I walked out the door with my Nismo for $36K. Thing I love is I have sold wheels and few other Nismo parts for over $4000. Making my base car to start $32K and I get to keep all cool Nismo body work, fun Nismo interior details, Nismo strut braces etc. See how much it would cost for you to buy stock nismo body panels and you will quickly realize what a bargin the Nismo is compared to other models of 370Z.
SCCA Solo really isnt a good indicator of a cars potential. Stock Evo against stock Z is a blood bath in SCCA. Heck SP EVO against SP 370Z is a blood bath as well. Evo has huge power and gearing advantage over the lazy geared Z. Even SSM level one really cant get Z down to weight of competitive cars unless you go with some ultra exotic $$$ parts. 370Z is a real tank but tanks are good if you want a sturdy track day car. Everything about the car is over engineered in strength department. I dont think we will see issues with chassis cracks or mounting point failures like BMW's and other cars experience. However throw out the classing and fiddle with Z a little and it can be something that is very fun to drive. Its not going to be a national level winning car unless its built perfectly and driven by top driver but I really never bought my Z as a car to run in a class. Its always just been a fun fast car. For those who didn't see my Hillclimb thread take a listen to this. http://redirector.googlevideo.com/vi...416B66&key=lh1 Id rather drive sexy 370 Z than a hopped up toaster oven! Even if it is ultimately faster than a Z in AX. Something about that long sleek hood and tight cockpit with rear drive that is always ready to bite that makes the car far more exciting to drive than any AWD car. And Im pretty confident my car would give most Street driven Evos a very hard time now especially on the track where it excels. Its still a little too heavy to be a good AX car. And until I get more tire under it it struggles to put power down. However saying all that If I was in market for ugly toadster oven styled blown econo box, EVO would be on top of my list for sure!:icon18: http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp...mg55684138.jpg |

We come to different conclusions, but you at least have sound logic and a good understanding of what you want. I can respect that. |

Or do you prefer to pretend that whole incident never happened? |

With $800 across the board, you get EVO>Mustang>370Z With no mods you get Mustang>EVO>370Z |

Lets say u go to a Yankees game. the team is playing pretty well and fighting for a top spot in the division. a couple of the fans are saying, "man we would play so much better if Jeter (lets pretend he's hurt) were playing. seems like that combined with the umps giving us the shaft the last couple games is killing us." They obviously seem passionate about their team, and really enjoy watching them. Then, all the sudden u turn around and say, "Well in my opinion, the Yankess aren't that good when compared to the Red Sox. pPdroya's a better player, and boston has a nicer stadium. and u guys shouldnt try to put losing the games on a couple bad calls or a couple tools you are missing on the infield. When in reality, your team sucks all around." Yankees fans then proceed to beat the life out of you and everyone in the stadium cheers. later, when a news team comes to interview you in your hospital bed and the reporter says, "now why did everyone beat u up?" You look up, tear rolling down your cheek, and simply go, "gee idk... i was just tellin the truth..." see what i'm saying... you cant just come in the lions den, talk smack, and expect people not to defend something they are passionate about. Moral of the story: a lil common sense goes a long ways |

Any more personal attacks you want to throw out there, since you've talked yourself in circles for hours now? |

Of course I love my Z, and of course I recognize there can be and ARE superior cars, and also recognize that this comparison is regarding "handling" which is subjective to some degree. Certainly if we are to include high-tech stuff like the Evo's AWD system then it certainly has some advantages in terms of handling, and it absolutely should, given the level of technology. But, then there are the actual performance numbers involved in the test which this guy can't seem to get his head around, and he comes back with this "If I got $800 to spend on mods of my choice..." crap that sounds like it belongs on a Honda forum... "$20K in mods and my Civic can hang with a Vette on any race track." |
Quote:
You guys are the ones throwing in mods. In stock form, the Evo will decimate the 370z around a race track, after the 370z goes into limp mode. I find it funny that the only people with track experience (me and grant) can have a reasonable discussion, while the people getting worked up are Sunday drivers. It's hard to estimate how a car handles when you don't know it's limits. |

We were talking about who would be fastest in the hands of unskilled driver. I point out Evo. I'm told to stop talking about "grocery getters" You can read it here http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...p-fail-22.html |
how do you put a whole tread on the ignore list?

Wow, a real autox course? Grant and I actually compete. He knows what it's like on a national level, perhaps you could learn a bi from him, even if you're too proud to learn from me. |

I will give u props on getting one of the more mellow forums on the net riled up. Most people on here are pretty ok with identifying their cars shortcomings. Not any car is perfect. This is actually one of the most chill places every. Conflicts like this are rare on here. I'll admit, i got drug into thus one. But u basically got everyone pissed off.
You so far have been rude, condescending, and generally unpleasant. If u give some respect on here, u will get some |
Don't feed the trolls duh

"shut up and drive your toaster" I think you guys should start with the respect. I have both cars. I know their strengths and weaknesses, and I'm willin to talk to both in a civil manner. I guess it must be jealousy that causes people to diss some ones ride. |
dont get me wrong, the evo is a good performing car. i even considered getting one. but tbh, the 2 cars are like apples to oranges. both do some things better than the others.
|
lets start brz vs 370 again. I miss those
