Iphone and the 370

For everyone that has an iphone, do you use the bluetooth on the 370 w/ it? How would you rate it and how clear are you when using it? I am about to buy a new phone and I am contemplating on the iphone. What are your thoughts on the phone itself? Would you recommend it and what are the cons of it? Thanks for your input

As an iPhone owner, i have to say buying it was one of the worst decisions I ever made in my entire life. This piece of garbage manages to suck major *** in every way possible by being very inept at performing all of its features. If you do get it, be glad that the bluetooth phone works with it, because it's the only way you'll be able to speak to or hear anyone, period.

If I haven't made my feelings clear, my cousin wants to buy my iPhone when I replace it, but I'd rather destroy it Office Space style.

Maybe I'm lucky but I have found the iPhone to be a wonderful device. It does lack some features (copy-paste, mms) but the user interface is top notch. As far as the Z, I'm sorry but I can't really help there.

It sounds as though your iPhone may be defective-- you're the only person I've ever heard with those gripes.

I'd go to an AT&T stores & make a complaint.

Oh, I've gone to them, and they've done nothing but act like ******** and warn me nt to dunk the phone in water because they'll know.

The problem with the iPhone I have is that it is made with poor parts. The opinion that it has a very weak speaker for listening to calls as well as speaker phone is widespread. The 2G did not address this either.

Amongst phones of its calibur, the iphone has one of the worst cameras, offering no flash, no zoom, low mpixels, and poor grainy quality overall.

As an iPod, the iphone probably fails here the most. Not being able to drag and drop music to it on a computer can make loading it up a long chore, and thenit turns out to be incompatible with the majority of the dock players out there.

The wireless has magical issue connecting to every network I come across, even my own home network.

The reception likes to magically drop from 5 bars to nothing, when standing still in the same spot. Even with 2+ bars, my phone fails to make calls.

I have shown all of these issues to AT&T as well as the Apple store, and they both decided that it worked well enough within their guidelines to not warrant attention, leading me to believe the iPhone really does suck this much.

Having said all that, I don't know any iPhone owners personally, or in passing, that actually like it. Cool features? Yes. Ability to use them? Less than stellar. I am REALLY hoping the June iphone announcement addresses some of these issues.

P.S. The battery is good at least.

My iPhone seems to work well this the 370z's bluetooth system, except the system will not let me view my address book via the car's nav screen. Also I wish the 370z had a better ipod integration system to view cover art and select songs via playlist.

"Anatoray," not to delve too far into off topic, but I've not had any of those issues you've had.

Ironically, my only complaint is the short battery life.

Good luck with your phone.

iPhone works beautifully with my Z.. it connects everytime I start up immediately and people say I sound fine (well they say it sounds like they are on speakerphone, but that's a given) and I hear them just fine.. no crackling/interferences/etc.

HOWEVER.. the bad news.. iPhone doesn't support Contacts transfer (you should already know this, iPhone contact transfer is a no-go for any bluetooth device with the iphone). On the other hand, you can spend some time hand typing in all your contacts into your Navi unit atleast and when that person calls, it will show their name so in the end, you're not missing out on any functionality except for the easy import feature.

I hope that when 3.0 iPhone software comes out they will support contact transfer since they are finally implementing A2DP stereo BT.

Sounds like you've never used an iPod before your iPhone.. they've always required iTunes to transfer music back and forth. I'll agree there's tons of things that should change for the better on the iPhone but in the end it's features outweigh it's bad points. Where the iPhone gets things right, a lot of other phones do not. And as you know, 3.0 will bring a lot of great new changes (that should have been in at 1.0, of course).

I have a base, so I had to buy an aftermarket HU to get the feature, BUT i have tried it in my friend's Z, which is a fully loaded touring, and the iphone syncs up with the Z just fine. the only gripe is that like everyone above has said, there is no way to get the address book on the screen of the HU.

and yes, battery life does suck with the iphone. with 3G and BT enabled, i can literally see the battery bar drain to nothingness right before my eyes.

I'm not sure if there's any docks/accessories that can pull the Cover art from an ipod/iphone and display it on a screen. This was a limitation Apple implemented in the software, if it were a possibility, I would think most accessories would feature cover art.

When Bluetooth is enabled on the iphone, the batteries do drain with a quickness, but everything else on the iPhone (wifi, 3g, edge, etc) is very efficient, again, hopefully 3.0 can address the bluetooth load on the phone.

on the 3.0, if you already have an iphone do you just download the updates?

Yes, if you're an iPhone owner, all updates are free. Only people with iPod Touch's have to pay a small fee to upgrade to new firmware.

Actually, the iPhone WILL transfer contacts depending on the car's system. On my 2007 Audi A4, my entire contacts phonebook was downloaded to the car and I could scroll through them using the car's controls and the car's display. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on the Nissan system (370Z or my wife's Altima with nav).
