How often you guys scrape your front bumper?

LOL =)
As sad as it sounds, it happens to all of us...
The real question is how often?
Like don't you guys hate those shitty parking structures where the entrance has like the "V" shape dips?!?!

GOSH I F'KEN HATE THOSE!!!!
So how often???

cossie1600 08-22-2011 11:03 PM

12K miles, never scraped once. You just have to know how to take it.

Dang =)
Nice =)
So any advice?

KillerBee370 08-22-2011 11:13 PM

Every time I drive it.

Flushnismo 08-22-2011 11:25 PM

Probably 3 or 4 times a day.. making skid plates tomorrow!

Never scraped once at stock height.

mcphelps 08-22-2011 11:28 PM

Haven't scraped the bumper, but the front lip spoiler is eroding away on a daily basis.

:iagree:

cc370z 08-22-2011 11:39 PM

My lip is all tore up. I've got a steep driveway and some nice speed bumps in my neighbor hood.

JZNx 08-22-2011 11:44 PM

I like how we all take this really well =)
It sounds as if its normal to scrape =)

KillerBee370 08-22-2011 11:59 PM

I couldn't care less. I was a wee tad bit miffed when I decided to leave the undertray off once after an oil change and ran up over a parking block only to back off ripping half the entire front bumper off but other than that, meh.

AlphaSnacks 08-23-2011 12:43 AM

Meh, every day. At least it's scraping that plastic piece and not the actual bumper.

ncheung85 08-23-2011 12:52 AM

I scrape my front spoiler every time I take the z out. The worst sound is when I drive the z onto the street in the morning but .... that plastic part still looks good.

essixx 08-23-2011 01:03 AM

Every time I back out of my driveway my front spoiler gets it. Well, almost every time. If I get really close to the curb and turn hard just at the right time I can get it out without a scrape. Funny thing is I almost never scrape the spoiler driving in.

hdskull 08-23-2011 01:50 AM

I usually only scrape the plastic piece under. I've scraped the bumper once or twice.

supraman626 08-23-2011 02:32 AM

i had to redo my driveway just for the Z, still scraping a tiny bit when i back out but no problems going up the driveway when i go slow. It used to break my heart but can't stress on these little things.

11Thumper 08-23-2011 03:02 AM

I got the bumper once. The front lip spoiler is part of an ongoing weight reduction plan. ;)

VaGntlmn 08-23-2011 06:27 AM

I have an EVO-R front lip, and I'm lowered about an inch, so I'm not happy when I scrape.
But it doesn't happen very often.

Let's see here....two days pulling out of the driveway onto the street, two days scraping the front lip spoiler (just barely).

This car is so fun to drive, I'm not going to let it bother me. :happydance:

MacCool 08-23-2011 06:39 AM

I scrape the little bolt-on air dams frequently, but I've never scraped the bumper or any other painted surface. Gotta be particularly careful parking, not getting too close to the curb at the front of the parking spot and swinging wide enough to miss side curbs on the inside of turns.

Masa 08-23-2011 08:55 AM

Never scraped a painted part but I have scraped those little air dam things by the wheels and the front lip numerous times - but only going in/out of my driveway.

I gave in and eventually got one of these for the driveway:

http://mustfindit.com/files/2011/08/curb-ramp-600.jpg

I'm sure it still scrapes the black pieces under the car but since the ramp is made out of rubber theres no damage being done.

wh1te370z 08-23-2011 09:02 AM

Never hit the actual bumper but i get the spoiler allllll the time. I get it everymorning when i have to pull into the deli parking lot to get breakfast.... maybe i should find another deli :rofl2:

WhiskeyHotel 08-23-2011 10:30 AM

Yeah, I get the spoiler every time I pull in/back out of my drive - just a little scrape. I'm not lowered at all.

My only consolation is that my neighbor nearly drags the whole bumper off of his vette on his drive. It makes the worst screeching noise. I cringe every time I hear it.

houkouonchi 08-23-2011 10:36 AM

Ive gotten the bumper once (maybe twice). The lip I get scrape atleast 10 times per week =(.

UNKNOWN_370 08-23-2011 10:41 AM

I never scraped my.bumper but my chin spoiler took a beating. Lol.

Wow... Tat sucks...

tjlazer 08-23-2011 12:29 PM

The nice thing about the 370Z front bumper is it will hardly ever scrape, even when lowered. (just the rubber chin and two flaps) The nismo bumper on the other hand.... But it's removable though, but still an expensive part (~$400)

Red__Zed 08-23-2011 12:38 PM

I scrape rubber and plastic from time to time.

11Thumper 08-23-2011 01:02 PM

In the end you'll be selling a used car to some 18 year old punk who will low ball your price down to $0.50 because that's all he's got...but it's CASH. :D

memorylasts 08-23-2011 01:24 PM

was daily going in and out of the driveway, ive had ramps for about 6 mo but i had already scrapped it up... so i was like ill just wait till i put my kit on.

FromG2Z 08-23-2011 01:57 PM

Op, did u mean the oem lip spoiler or the actual bumper? I think folks are getting confused as to which u mean.

If u mean the oem lip spoiler I scrape mine maybe once a week but barely, esp if I go over a certain road with some bad angles. Roads here are frickin terrible. Does anybody know how much those oem lip spoilers are? I wonder if i should bother esp if when I get a new one, I will inevitably scrape yet again.

As for the front bumper, never.

kenchan 08-23-2011 01:59 PM

havent scraped my ings lip at all either. :p

98intrigue 08-23-2011 02:04 PM

I scrape the OEM sport lip on a daily basis. I scraps my Evo-R lip on occasion. I scrape my uppipe to my turbo and my exhaust on a daily basis. Lowered has it's negatives :(

LT419 08-23-2011 02:13 PM

I'VE never scraped any painted areas (probably the chin spoiler a few times though), but I think someone else may have. I took it to the dealer I bought it from for a free oil change, and as the tech was backing it out of the spot (I parked the nose downhill), he didn't let the clutch out fast enough and the car rolled forward a couple feet toward the curb. Then he stalled it. :icon14: After a few attempts he finally got it out of the spot but not before I had a heart attack and wept like a little girl...

There didn't appear to be any damage and he seemed like a nice guy so I didn't say anything. :ugh2:

i would've at least made fun of his driving. :D hahaha.

TheGreatOne 08-23-2011 02:18 PM

I scrape that OEM lip spoiler every single day coming out of my condo parking...taking extreme angles on the way in, often I can avoid it but I think that lip is good for being there, good indicator

I want the Stillen Splitter for next year. Once I put my Tein's and the Stillen on, I might be complaining more

kenchan 08-23-2011 02:19 PM

greatone- i hear the stillen splitter is pretty flimsy. i'd check with typeone cause he's on his 3rd or 4th unit. lol :D

DJ-of-E 08-23-2011 02:28 PM

Once a week. So Cal has too many super deep dips, even on regular streets.

mantella87 08-23-2011 02:35 PM

Haven't done it yet. But a raccoon did eat some of my paint on the bottom and like 15% of my right air dam.

christian370z 08-23-2011 02:43 PM

I have not scraped the bumper, but regularly scrape the two flaps that are just ahead of the front wheels. I don't mind them being there to be honest, I treat them as a warning for the actual bumper. Now, I'm not sure what it will be like with the INGS lip though.

lol, thanks for the tip Mr. Kenchan. I think I saw his post about that...might need to double or tripe up on the screws!
