So through the unfortunate turn events that happen to the best of us, it has happened to me. The day started out great! It was the first time I was taking my car to its first Auto show. Got up early, washed my car before the show to make it look all nice and sexy it up. The Autoshow was set up at the base so no entry fee, people were great company, food was good, cars were awesome; it was a great time overall. After being there for a good 5 hrs and realizing that the dyno that was set up was pretty much not well manned, my buddy and I decided to go on a little cruise and get a bite to eat down in the next town. As I took a turn, the car hydroplaned. The car started to fish tail and I ended up losing control, as it was my first time experiencig it it was a little nerve racking. Then I got :owned: and hit a sign with my passenger side quarter panel, which sent my car into a further spin the opposite direction. Eventually, the car ended in a ditch. Luckly there was no one else on the road, and I didn't get hurt in any way. The car kinda slipped into the ditch so it didn't hit too hard. Here are some pics...before and after.

I backed into a lady today, and messed up my back end... Not nearly as bad as yours, but i know how you feel. Sorry to see you crashed man

IBSBVOOVO (In Before Someone Blames VDC On Or VDC Off) :stirthepot:
You must have had VDC off... HAHAHA I'm the first one!!!!!! J/K man, sorry about the Z and gald your ok.
I live in Seattle and it rains here all the time but I've never hydroplaned my 350z or 370z. I can see kicking out the backend if the z is pushed beyond its limit.

Oh damn! Sorry that happened, but glad to hear that you're ok!
Bummer man.
Is it the picture or the roof seems to be creased?
Hope you didn't break any suspension parts. Check the underside rear good on a lift and I hope insurance takes good care of you. What tires are on your car
.? Glad you got out okay. |
This is why you don't drive hard on wet roads. There really isnt enough water there to hydroplane, seems more likely you simply lost grip from pushing it too much.
Glad your ok.
Your arrow is wrong you ended in the ditch! Really though sorry about the car and I only kid because no one was injured.
Glad you're alright, how fast were you going? ;)
sorry to hear about your adventure. glad no one was hurt...
please don't take this the wrong way but if it wasn't raining at the time.. the road seems from your pics not to be that slick. which it very well could have been. but if vdc was on you must have been pushing the limits of the car. which could happen to anyone. glad your ok though.... p.s seems like every week some one has gotten messed up. bad luck i guess |
that sucks dude... the 370 seems to do supringinly well in wet conditions compared to my old g35 coupe.. has a lot to do with tires but the car overall seems a bit better in sub par conditions...
sometimes things happen... let insurance do there thing, and hopefully you end up happy in the end |
You definetly were driving aggressive if that happened to you.
-___-;; Wet grounds + taking turns is always a bad sign for some... Should've known better but hey atleast you didn't kill anyone or die. Insurance probably won't believe your story and will rape your $$$$. Might not be able to buy a new Z. This happened to a friend of mine but he had the new sti and now he's in a new civic. GL OP! |
Glad to hear you're ok.
Man glad your ok..i actually knew this might happened so when i got my ride during winter i went drifting in snow ( safe parking lot of course ) and learned somewhat how to control it, it saved my car plenty of times:tup:
sorry to hear...... yet another one of those added benefits of why I don't drive my Z in the rain
Glad you made it out... hope you can get her good as new very soon! Oh... maybe better tires? :)
Yeah, sometimes we take the feel of the cars' speed for granted and thinking we're going 40 but actually the car is going 60 on smooth roads, hahaha.
At least its not a big crash or anything. Car can be fixed =) Good thing you came out without a scratch. GL with the repairs!
Sorry to hear :( (Insert snide remark about what you should/shouldn't have done)
Thanks guys. I probably was doing more than I reported. I don't know, I guess I lack the ability to care about the speed and time of the accident as I am swerving back and forth. Surprisingly, the only thing that was bad was the quarter panel and the front bumper no other big dings as far as I know.
Corona, sorry to hear about the crash.
Also a bit of trivia: roads don't have to be under standing water to be slick. The slickest conditions (outside of ice) are generally just-moist roads at the beginning of a rain fall after dry weather. This happens because grease and oil have had a chance to dry on the road surface, and when rain starts, it brings the slick stuff to the surface. After a while, that washes away. |

Ouch! Sorry to hear. Good thing you're ok. Did you get a ticket? Here in Arizona, they would have cited you for sure : /
Maybe some car control classes are in order. You said you sort of panicked because you hadn't experienced the rear end coming 'round before... With experience, you'll learn how to drive through things like this. |
