Are 370 worth more now than when you bought it?
2 Attachment(s)
I checked several websites for the price on my Z and it seems like the Z is worth more than what i paid for it.
i have a 2010 sports package auto, bought brand new, currently 5000 miles on the odo. bought at $32500. but now it's worth between $32500 and $34000. is this for real? |
I dont think its actually worth more but the site says for me that mine is worth 35.5k, but i cant pick a 2011 model so I cant get its actual value for mine

Stop picking "excellent" condition. That's a good start to a more realistic value. |

Your car is only in excellent condition if it is 100% garaged (i.e. NEVER driven), or wrapped and driven only on sunny, rainless days and 500' back from any vehicles. I think my Z06 BARELY qualifies and I drive it maybe 2-3 times a month on my days off.
Also, what some internet site says is worth what you paid for it unless the owner of the site is offering you a check for that amount. |

It only worth as much as your attempt to get a sucker to buy your car at a high price...like a spoiled dumb rich kid who thought your car is a Porsche.
|
Ive also heard that used japanese car values are going up because of what happened in Japan with the recent disaster. Any truth to this?
|
This is the case with my nismo, but primary because I got it for a steal.

I can't even sell mine at several grand less than that site claims it is worth.
|
you might get a little more than what kbb says. depending on your area..
i was at the dealership today and all they had on the lot was one used 350. salesmen said i could maybe get top dollar on a trade in now because at least in my area they are pretty rare right now. it doesn't matter anyway i'm holding out for the next major revamp. and then it's either the new Z or a corvette. |
A car is worth whatever someone else will pay. But generally no, a car always depreciates in value except for some very rare circumstances of rare or unique cars becoming highly desired by rich people with more money than sense, and the vehicle becomes a work of art rather than transportation.
If you got your car for a great price, odds are everyone else is too. Maybe you could flip your car for a few grand extra, but then you'd have no car, would you? And you'd have to buy another one, maybe even at a higher price. I have heard of people buying junkers and putting a lot of labor into fixing them up cheaply, and selling them up. |

It's just like baseball cards when I was little. I'd check the Beckett price guide and think I had a small fortune. Then you try to find someone to buy them and realize you just have pictures of people on cardboard.

The best part of this thread is people are now comparing used prices with different trim levels in different parts of the country...
|
I know due to the tsunami motorcycles from Japan are selling at a premium. I think the car market is just flooded. If someone seriously wants a Z they can do their research, find boards like this or even travel cross country for a good deal.

What the Z is worth and what people will pay for it are two different stories...I really wish that people would buy these cars for what they're worth. It doesn't seem to be the case out here on Guam. I have two friends our here that have been trying to sell their Z's. One is a 2009 Montery blue 7AT Sports Package with 18K miles and is asking $27K.
I also have a friend that has a 2009 Base model with GTM TT Stage II kit installed and aftermarket exhaust that went as low as $24K...Both of these cars have been in the market for a few months already with no takers... Out here these cars are only driven by either those that are single with $$$, those that have married/family but have $$$, or military personnel. It's not really a practicle vehicle for most people out here...Mostly everyone out here drives sedans, SUV's and trucks...Those who drive around in sports cars here do, because they can...Although many others would like to, its just not practicle for many, so the demand isn't really there. |

Did I pay too much? Well yeah, probably could have gotten a better deal if I wanted to put the effort into it. But did I overpay by thousands? Seems unlikely. Invoice is $33k for a base Z with sport package. |

I checked kbb and it's $32,852 invoice and that includes $760 for destination. No other options like floor mats were selected. This is for a base 6MT plus sport package. If the # isn't correct that's fine. If it is, I just don't see how folks are getting these for $3k under invoice. |

dont just say it without any proof. it makes you look stupid. if you dont give me the name of the dealer or saleman's phone number, please dont bother to reply. If what you said is true, i will buy another Z from that dealer immediately. I will fly there to get the car and drive back same weekend. |
