It's just like baseball cards when I was little. I'd check the Beckett price guide and think I had a small fortune. Then you try to find someone to buy them and realize you just have pictures of people on cardboard.

Ive also heard that used japanese car values are going up because of what happened in Japan with the recent disaster. Any truth to this?

No,i think is because U.S. dollars now very weak,Japanese Yens still very high.

The best part of this thread is people are now comparing used prices with different trim levels in different parts of the country...

I know due to the tsunami motorcycles from Japan are selling at a premium. I think the car market is just flooded. If someone seriously wants a Z they can do their research, find boards like this or even travel cross country for a good deal.

Just out of curiosity why the Cayman. I ponder this too but I would like to know your rationale.

BOLIO 671 07-31-2011 06:53 PM

What the Z is worth and what people will pay for it are two different stories...I really wish that people would buy these cars for what they're worth. It doesn't seem to be the case out here on Guam. I have two friends our here that have been trying to sell their Z's. One is a 2009 Montery blue 7AT Sports Package with 18K miles and is asking $27K.

I also have a friend that has a 2009 Base model with GTM TT Stage II kit installed and aftermarket exhaust that went as low as $24K...Both of these cars have been in the market for a few months already with no takers...

Out here these cars are only driven by either those that are single with $$$, those that have married/family but have $$$, or military personnel. It's not really a practicle vehicle for most people out here...Mostly everyone out here drives sedans, SUV's and trucks...Those who drive around in sports cars here do, because they can...Although many others would like to, its just not practicle for many, so the demand isn't really there.

Brand new Z with sport can be bought for 30k or less, and BTW my friend had a touring with sports pack.

I hear a lot of this on the forum. Makes me wonder...

Did I pay too much? Well yeah, probably could have gotten a better deal if I wanted to put the effort into it. But did I overpay by thousands? Seems unlikely.

Invoice is $33k for a base Z with sport package.

From "2009 / 2010 Nissan 370z invoice Price" sticky in the Pricing/Ordering section of the forums I'd imagine.
