Our cars look like they have a nice exhaust note to it so cops probably wouldn't pay too much attention to us unlike civics and family cars with loud exhaust. And thats another reason why I love the Berk exhaust. It looks completely stock

Just don't drive like a moron and you won't get hassled. It's a newer Nissan, not an old Civic. Most cops even in CA aren't too concerned with you :)

I've heard of people just having a shop sign off that their exhaust is legal and have gotten the ticket dropped. |
Here in the Republic of VA if is not OEM you can get pull over anytime, get ticketed or a fix ticket one which includes going to court.

once for exhaust, dozen plus times for tint (20%) or no front plate. i believe its from me driving home from work around 2 am. no tickets yet :stirthepot:
|
nope, and my exhaust is loud as hell. (F.I. non res CBE w/carbon fiber mufflers and LTHs). Then again, I'm in FL. (knocks on wood).

If you're sticking with stock cats, you should be fine. I got some hfc. Haven't got pull over yet.

From what I can get out of the vids? I'm looking for the happy median between all 3. Lol |
I got pulled over in my 240sx with an HKS Hi Power exhaust, stock everything else.
I was waiting at a red light and see the cop car behind me, right when it turns green and I start moving, BAM! "PULL OVER". FML went to court, showed them my fix-it ticket and went along my daily life. |
Stock cats with my FI exhaust, nothing, I've actually gotten "the nod" from some cops
I think the Z commands a lot more respect than my old Honda Prelude lol, got so many tickets and pull overs with that thing. |
Motorcycles are like 10x louder than these aftermarket exhausts and they never get pulled over. You should be fine.

Well it's like anything else in the world of generating revenue...
Everything is contradictory and nothing makes much sense. And 100% of it is not fair by anyone's measure. Bikes are loud as hell (especially obnoxious Harley's) and they don't even need to "legaly" run catalytics. So is noise the issue? Apparently not. Is smog the issue? Apparently not either. But when it comes to a car... oh hold the phone... Civics are targeted because of supposed stolen parts and a fart cannon makes for a good "reasonable suspicion" stop. But that's just it.. "reasonable suspicion" doesn't get a cop inside your car or under your hood. Probable cause does. Without a warrant, reasonable suspicion just doesn't cut it but people don't know this so they let the cop pop the hood and search all over the inside of the vehicle by giving consent where none need be given under the protection of your so called 4th Amendment. Now I understand that the topic of reasonable suspicion vs. probable cause and just what does that fart cannon represent are hotly debated but I am of the opinion that it is NOT the latter. When challenged, the cop will most likely throw a bluff your way and say something like "fine, you hang out while we call the tow truck". Ok... but wait... Most people won't say "ok". They most likely won't ask to see their supervisor in the mean time while waiting for the supposed tow truck to show up and call their bluff. Sometimes I guess it's easier to pay than to play? IDK. Something to think about. Plus I always record (video) my traffic stops as that tends to change the hearts and minds of some would-be violators in blue. |
