Z Commuters - How Far's Your Work from Home?
Just started a new job and the commute's not too bad - 30miles. It's only 40-45 minutes in traffic (turns out I'm driving the opposite way of congestion), but wanted to see what the spectrum is for Z driver's would daily their cars.

zero... weekend car status.
|
about 5 miles to work
|
If I take the Z to work it takes about 15 minutes, but I may do that once a week.
|
35 miles each way.
|
I had to check to be sure 29.2 miles but I sometimes take my audi.
Also I have KW3 and recaro seats so... Not a very fair comparison |
You should do a poll with options in time instead of distance.

Weekend car for me. If I do I only live 3.5 miles from work.

I have a wonderful twisty commute. About 5 miles each way. No freeway involved. 6th gear is almost unused.
|
A little less than 2 miles. I don't have winter tires on my Z because I can walk to work in a snowstorm.
|
Around 25 miles.
|
About 12 miles, 30 minutes.
Seat adjustment is the most important thing to feeling comfortable on daily drives... |
55 miles one way pretty much all freeway takes about and hour, my ipod gets a work out lol
|
Best army perk: I wake up 5 minutes before work and stumble down two flights of stairs.
|
My commute was 57 miles one-way, recently it's 38 one-way.
Thankfully I started carpooling in the last few months so the Z sits all day and I barely drive it. |
When I do bring the Z to work which is rare and only on weekends when there is alot less cars in the lot its only about 3 miles each way WOOT WOOT.
|
35 miles each way, most of it in traffic, and i still love to drive it.
"Yeah take a good look at the car you could have had." :worship: |
8 miles and 10 minute calm drive through a quiet country setting. I keep trying to make the ride last longer---it always ends too soon. I drive less than 5,000 miles/year. My cars look like new for a decade and last forever.
|
Exactly three miles for me, but I have to go thru four stop lights. I don't know how I cope with it!:rofl2:
AZ |
36.5 miles

Google Maps says 15.0 miles, 30 minutes. Really, it's 35-40 mins with traffic + lights. Really not too bad and there are backroads I can take to change it up a bit |
7 miles each way :)
|
33 miles, in flow of traffic, 45~65mins to work & 50~90mins to home.
|
11 miles...20 minutes drive
|
About 40 miles, all highway except for 3 miles of it. Takes about 45 minutes unless beach traffic rears it's ugly head. Then another 20-30 minutes.
|
3 minute walk
|
About 4KMs.. use to take me 7-8 minutes with my old car, now it's 10-15 because I'll take the long routes now with the Z hahaha.
|
Just had to look this up today to win a debate with a co-worker.
15-16 miles (1-1.5 hour of driving), I have two road choices at one point and it is a flip of the coin which is faster everyday. Just looked, geez a lot of you have very little commute, I am jealous. |
0.8 Miles
|
17 miles, ~ 15 minutes. **** yeah, high Alabama speed limits and no traffic.
|
Thanks for the replies, comments, and poll responses all! Looks about what I was expected - seems the breakpoints were perfect - almost a proportional spread.
And yep - I do (now) envy the short commuters... I've stocked up on A LOT of audiobooks. Mebbe I'll restart that SAT radio subscription... |
I only get 17.8 MPG cuz I drive up and down the freeway ramp everyday to work. I live like 10-15 minutes away on the span of 8 miles.
This includes turning on the car and backing out the driveway. |
17 miles, 30-40 minutes. I love my commute. All side streets with lots of views, changes in elevation, turns, 50-60 mph speed limits. That's why I drive my Z everyday. It relieves stress on the drive home.
|
4 miles less than 10 minutes

But instead I am in pretty ridiculous DC-Metro traffic. The 5.0 definitely accelerates quicker to 5 mph than the Z did. But I feel like the Z has the advantage because it takes up less space when you are gridlocked in the center of an intersection. :icon17: |
55mi one way for the last 3.5 years.. Just hired into a new job which is 1mi from my house.
Winning. Maybe I'll get a moped and take that into work every now and then. ;) |
33 miles each way for me. Morning commute takes around 30 minutes, evening closer to 45 minutes. They are supposedly going to build a toll road which would cut down on my mileage and time considerably but they are still debating the path the road will take.
