Hit a huge red tail hawk with my Pontiac G6 back in the Spring. It few in front of me and hit the windshield at about the rear view mirror area. Sounded like a bowling ball hitting the car. Windshield survived, hawk didn't. Bothered me too. It was a beautiful animal.

hey32g 11-09-2011 12:14 PM

Hit a deer when my new RX-8 had 900 miles on it.

Cristobal09 11-10-2011 08:30 AM

Just hit a skunk last night on my z with 232 miles on it. The car stinks so bad I had to park it about 500 feet from my house.

There's some concoction a few pages back in this thread that is supposed to clear the smell up.

I ran over a squirrel with my Z. It was trying to cross the street but sadly ended up getting squashed under my tires. Poor thing was still on the street next few days.

Try the peroxide and baking soda combo kenchan posted. I soaked the entire underside of my car with that yesterday and it seems to have helped a lot. Hit a skunk last weekend. The smell faded a bit over the week but now seems to be completely gone after cleaning it.

I ran over some type of Groundhog in my Mom's 2010 Maxima. I felt horrible after hitting it, but what are u gonna do ?

kenoverbey 11-14-2011 11:55 AM

I've slayed about a dozen squirrels in the last few months! They obviously mis-judged my speed, LOL! Those 295's are unforgiving!!

So, I'm going to revive this thread, since I don't have a Mayan-cursed 2012 Z to post in that other thread. I'll try to make it worth it :icon17:

In the Z, I have hit a squirrel that faked me out. I was in the left hand lane of two at night on 40 mph road and saw him run in front of my car and just stop in the middle of the lane. It was just like when you're walking down the sidewalk and you see the other person, but neither of you make eye contact and don't really know which way to go, so you do this stupid awkward shuffle dance before bumping into each other and muttering apologies, except I was going about 35 mph in a car, and he is a squirrel.

Before we traded in the Honda, I actually had a dog run into the passenger door of my car while I was moving about 25 mph. It was a black lab and I didn't even see it until it cleared the parked car on my right as I was passing it. It was looking the other way and just walked out into the street and into my door. I had the windows down and pretty sure I heard a yelp, but I slowed down and saw him run off right away. Very bizarre.

In my 330ci, I hit a gigantic pelican at shell beach in CA. Well, it mostly fell into my car, but I'll make the claim anyway.

TKP-Zeto 02-01-2017 11:16 PM

Drove over a dead deer one night at around 70mph, luckily cleared it without incident.

Fuzzzy 02-01-2017 11:21 PM

A fitting response to a necro-bump:

About 20 years ago I hit a fairly large dog at night on a rural interstate with my 300ZX. Sumbitch apparently got hung up underneath my left front wheel well which impaired my ability to steer significantly. I came to a stop sideways not too far short of a bridge abutment, car dead and not wanting to start, and an 18-wheeler in the distance behind me.

Fortunately the thing fired up and I got underway before the truck arrived. Poor dog was not so fortunate.

JARblue 02-02-2017 12:49 AM

Since I last posted in this thread, I've run over a dead lab probably 60-80 lbs on the highway at 70 mph on I-35 south of San Antonio. In the Z :eekdance:

All trucks in front of me that made no effort to avoid the carcass - they cleared it no problem. I pulled over immediately - no obvious damage. I called a nearby friend who has a shop in SA, and he was nice enough to let me put it on a lift right away for a more thorough inspection. All was ok - just really, really disgusting, so I headed off to my second appointment of the day in Lockhart. I cleaned up the mess the following weekend - not a fun task.

Better than starting a new thread :tiphat:

So that was your photo in the On Topic thread with the peeled back fender :eekdance: Hope you (and any passenger) are ok. GL with the repairs :tiphat:

2016 370z 02-03-2017 11:28 AM

I hit a faun. It jumped out of a bush and was hit instantly. I first cried because my front bumper was destroyed. Then I cried because I killed a baby deer :'(

Funeralclown 02-03-2017 12:07 PM

Ran over a duck once in my Civic, I was going too fast so knowing I couldn't stop, I yelled out "DUCK", but it just looked up higher. I could see the horror in the other ducks face who was standing on the shoulder.

Trips 02-03-2017 01:22 PM

Ran over a stupid roadrunner while visiting Hoover Dam

mishuko 02-03-2017 03:21 PM

Sport brakes help.... I've hit cardboard boxes and Styrofoam because high winds and too much traffic for evasive maneuvers :(

Spooler 02-03-2017 06:22 PM

A dang Great Dane ran out in front of me in my 1975 280zt. Then a deer hit the exact same spot. That is why I have a brand new Nissan hood in a box in my garage. Cats were notorious for running out in front of me and taking out all the plastic undertray's in my 300zxtt. The last one that did it I turned around and put 2 tires over him for good measure.

JTM88 02-03-2017 08:48 PM

I hit a duck in front of my apartment when it was dark and raining. I also hit a deer when I was 16 with my v6 Mustang.

Hit a deer in my brand new RX-8. 600 miles on it and had to get the front bumper replaced.

ssmoked 02-28-2017 10:40 PM

Hit a large armadillo going 60 and caused a deep dent on front bumper. Made a pit stop to walmart and bought the cheapest hair dryer, warmed up the dent and it pushed out back to perfect again

tonythetiger 02-28-2017 10:44 PM

ran over a dead deer on the hwy going over 85mph, luckily bumper didnt come off but deer meat was stuck on the car leading to a overpowering smell for weeks!!

Same thing happened to me with a dog in the neighborhood. I obviously wasn't going 60, more like 20mph. Turned the corner and dog ran across the street. Used the hairdryer trick to pop the bumper back out.

Dog was perfectly ok.

Funny you mentioned that. Same thing happened to me. I hit a 120lb. Rottweiler going about 25mph. Dog went flying through the air, got up and walked back across the street. Dog is fine but my car has $2900 in damage. Going in for repair this week.

James10694 03-01-2017 04:17 AM

I hit a dog on the highway going 70mph... Pretty sure it was a pitbul.. supposedly $10k in damage because "nismo parts are expensive"

Hotrodz 03-01-2017 09:15 AM

I hit a jack rabbit on the highway at 75mph. It took out my front bumper and carbon fiber front splitter!
