Not with my Z but it happened on 2 occasions, both with rental cars.
1. i was driving like 70mph on the freeway, this big black bird flew across the freeway then bam, it hit the passenger door right on the glass. Glass didnt break but i could see the bird laying on the freeway from my rearview mirror. 2. I was driving like 25 mph on public street then i saw a pigeon walking on the street. I steered towards the pigeon and was sure that it would fly away. it turned its head, saw my car, flapped its wings but it was too late. it was laying flat on the street from my rearview mirror. My wife was in the passenger seat and i got an hour long lecture from her afterwards. This is a bonus: 3. I was driving like 85mph on the highway in a remote area. Then a bigazz tumbleweed ran across the two-lane highway. I dodged it...barely. but the car behind me wasn't so lucky. he couldn't dodge it and hit it head-on. The tumbleweed got stuck in front of his car. He pulled his car over to the side of the freeway and i could see smokes coming out from his radiator. I know he must be swearing at me. |
hit a coyote on i-80 at 75mph in the rsx. not really a sports car. just a sports compact. cost me about 650 dollars repair. but i will tell you, definitely an experience id rather not repeat.

I saw this thread and then on my way to eat lunch I was forced to run over the remains of something that was once living.
Now I have guts all over the side of my car and in my wheels. Ugh. |

Bumping an old thread here. A skunk ran in front of the car early sunday morning. With me being so low im sure he didnt make it. Heard him tumble under the underbody. Instantaly smelled horrible. I sprayed almost the entire bottom of.the car with degreaser and took it through 2 car washes with the underbody sprayer. I didnt see any pieces of him under there but it still smells horrible. Any ideas to get the smell out?

yah, yesterday while i was making a blind turn in the woods i saw a squirrel dash in front of my Z which was further away, then a split second later i saw another squirrel behind him in mid-flight...he was leaping off a tree. yah he couldn't do anything cause he was already airborne. :D hahaha. i dodged him the best i could in that 0.1 sec i had and i think he may have hit the side of the front bumper but was mild enough leaving no scratch. i dont think the thing was injured significantly either. maybe a bruise on his butt.

Squirrel came dashing out from the sidewalk this afternoon. I thought he was gonna make it under the car but I heard a loud DING. I saw the little guy through my rearview stumbling away in circles like it was drunk. When I inspected the car no dents so I assume the ding I heard was it running into the wheel spokes.

you probably ran over his foot.

Sorry to hear that... the smell left by a skunk is pretty much impossible to get rid of. |
1qt hydrogen peroxide + 1/4 cup baking soda + one teaspoon dish soap. apply using a large brush or sponge.
soak for a few mins, rinse with water, repeat. ive not tried this personally but took notes reading some thread about someone running over a skunk and getting sprayed. use at your own risk. |
I hit a deer in my prelude. Hit it on the front driver side, and watched it flip over my open sunroof. Went out to find it and kick it but it ran off.
Also, hit a hog in the *** so there was poop all over my front end. |

No way that is real... |
rare but it does happen. Only thing i ever hit was a little bird in my mr-2. It took off low and in the same direction i was going. it ended up stuck against my radiator. when i got to a stop sign a couple miles down the road it took off as soon as I came to a stop. |

This is what a rabbit did at 60mph, to my SRT6 Crossfire. Destroyed the fog light and the bumper, had to replace everything.

Twice, once in the 370Z, did not even know it happened. When installing the CAI and the front bumper was removed to find a sparrow lodged up in the facia. Guess it had been there for awhile as I searched the garage for a dead mouse after it started to smell.
Second was back in the mid 90's in the 280Z heading down a country highway when a one legged rooster hobbled out into the road with no time to avoid it. Heard a thump from under the car and looked in the rear view mirror to see it hobble away back off the road. It must have been carrying a rabbits foot for good luck. |
1 Rabbit, 2 Squirrel, 1 Roadrunner so far :)

I hit a deer with my STi a few years back. Just clipped it on the driver's side. Damage wasn't too bad, but it did bust the headlight, bumper and fog light. I believe that it jumped right before I hit it, and it's hoove hit my fog light and there was some hair in the busted glass.
Many years back, I nailed a bird on the parkway with my MR2. The bird was on the shoulder of the parkway, and right as I passed, he got in front of my car. I felt the hit and then the bird going under the car. When I got out, all that was left was feathers and blood stuck in the grille. |
I've always found this one interesting. Surprised no one added it yet. Obviously not me, but it seems relevent. :p

I think I may have most of you guys beat, My parents live on a dark and windy road out in the country, About a mile from their house this past May I managed to hit 2 Back cows that were just standing in the middle of the road. This was in my 2007 350z, but I still thought you guys might want to see the results. Z was totalled out with over 14k worth of damage. This is how I ended up with the 2011 Nismo.... Drive safe out there because you never know what is around that next corner.
|
^^Damn that sucks....you just wanted a new Nismo huh lol.

Yea. Cows don't really move when you hit them. Nor do they move to get out of they way.:icon14:

Driving on a country road in Noth Carolina late one night. I'm in my Mercedes coupe. Truck in front of me all the sudden hits his brakes and then does a big 'bounce' over something. I'm close enough to brake a bit but still run over the deer the truck in front of me knocked down. Wasn't a real big one, but (a) I sat pretty low and (b) the dang thing tried to get up just as I hit it. Had to replace the front bumper, grill and undertray. I'm probably pretty lucky that the car had pretty much a big, smooth undertray about 3/4 of the way from front to back or it would have been a lot worse. Pretty much just slid overtop of it once I knocked it back down.

Well if he hit either one of them there wouldn't be enough left of his Z to hit the other one.
|
True enough. Does running over a turtle, but not actually hitting it count?
|
How about when I had a CRX I had a couple kittens (looked like they were playing tag) run out infront of me. All I could do is strattle it as the other jumped out of the way. I didn't hit it directly but heard the kitten get hit several times by the underside of the car. I looked in the rear view mirror to see the thing run off. I must have used 8 or it's 9 lives.

My '97 Civic wasn't a sports car, but I did hit a dog about a week after installing a brand new Backyard Special carbon Kevlar lip. Destroyed the lip... And the dog ran off to God knows where, so idk what ever happened to it. For those of you that aren't into Hondas... A brand new BYS lip is over $900. I got a "hookup" on mine at $700.
