Serious saftey issue...

So my passenger side seat does not detect my G/F when shes riding shotgun, it turns itself off. She is hella short and only weighs about 105lbs. Is there a way to turn this option on all the time? I remember my old cars used to have a key to turn it on and off. Any ideas?

am inclined to say there is something wrong with the sensor...i would take it to the dealership.

The airbag sensors turn off when it detects a supposed child / baby (or in your case a very lightweight G/F) because the airbags deploying could kill / injure them in an event of an accident.

Ding!
It is a weight sensor and is for the persons safety. Way to override it? Hand her a heavy bag...

Very good point, better drive safer when shes inside the whip, thanks guys. Guessing theres no way to override this?

dude, i'm having EXACTLY the same issue! That's so strange that I saw this.

Methodical4u 06-30-2011 11:19 PM

weight isn't the issue... my Fiancee is 5'6 135 lbs and it's doing this... this is a car issue and a serious safety one at that as the OP said. I'll be taking mine to Nissan either tomorrow or monday.

The thing is its OFF when nothing is in the seat of course, then when she sits on it, it lights UP OFF. so...Im concerned now. And probably will be taking my car to the dealership also.

if the sensors aren't any better than this then we'll be seeing a recall on them soon. If my Fiancee were to get hurt because of that thing... i'd be suing the hell out of Nissan.

Well lets just hope a major accident doesnt happen for ANYONE! =]

It might be doing it on purpose as stated above, I have no idea.

poorazn 06-30-2011 11:58 PM
