Do You Valet
When faced with the choice of using the Valet, or parking in some remote region and huffing it back to the venue of the evening....
What do you do?? (Keep in mind...sometimes the alternative is to park in crappy areas that are not monitored by security) |
no way!, go home and take a cab!! or get in the car with the valet and take the keys from him when parked!!
|
I never valet, even in my beater. I knew valets in high school. They told me all about the performance limits of various cars they'd driven.
 |
yah, i would grab a cab instead. or have a buddy drop me off.

No,no,no,no! No Valet. I usually park out in the woods anyway, so walk will always do me good.
|
I don't let anyone drive my car w/o me in it so no valet for me
|
|
Never. I have told them "get in and tell me where to park". Never had them argue.
|
im surprised that no one mentioned putting the car (with uprev) into valet mode.... i was kinda look forward to them trying to get on it... no soup for you!

Valet Parking? :gtfo2::gtfo2:
over my dead body.... |
The fact that there's a valet mode should be all you need to know about to valet or not.
|
yea, i was a valet a couple times back in highschool/college....
you dont want to valet your car. |
Naw, never!
|
just found an old post regarding this:
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...parking-2.html |
I valet now that I have UpRev, I never did before. Also, it makes a difference where they're parking. If they're dropping them off in the same parking lot you stopped in, in view of the restaurant/hotel/whatever, there's really very little chance for shenanigans. If they're driving them around the block to some garage, be wary.

One time I was walking around downtown and going shopping with my friend. Then we saw this young guy drove a new $300K Ferrari and pulled into a parking lot to park. My friend and I was like WOW, look at that Ferrari.
Then the driver got out of the Ferrari and walked into a Jamba Juice store and ordered a drink. Then he got back into the Ferrari with the drink in his hand and drove away. About an hour later, we saw the same Ferrari and the driver in front of this fancy restaurant. He opened and held the door of the Ferrari and a couple walked out of the restaurant and into the Ferrari and drove away. The driver was a valet attendant. While the customers were dining, he took their Ferrari to get a drink at Jamba Juice. The moral of the story is if you have a nice car, dont VALET. |
Nope never, not even with my ten year old truck.
|
I worked as a valet for a few years. I know from first hand experience what some of them do to the cars when the owners aren't watching. So with that being said, no. I will NEVER valet my car.

Whats uprev?

Well I did not end up by needing to valet. I got to the location early enough that I was able to get the absolute best parking space in the lot where the Z was all tucked back outta the way!
Valet parking is not my cup of tea! |
With the my Z I used valet once but I ended up backing the car up in the parking space. So, basically I just gave them my key to keep. They never got in my car. I was in San Antonio for business a couple of years ago and asked the concierge to get me a cab since I didn't have my car with me. The cab was taking too long so I was joking with the valet to just give me a ride since it was only 5 blocks away. I didn't think he'd do it but he did. He got one of the cars that just pulled up and told me to get inside. That is the reason why I don't valet. Also, my brother used to valet park cars and i've heard stories of what some guys do.
|
I try to take option 3: Hand them 5 bucks and ask if you can park it yourself. Usually they'll give you a good spot up front.

No
It's not just about burning rubber in your car. Every single time I used to valet (in my SUV), when I got the car back I can tell clearly that someone had rifled through the contents of my center console. EVERY DAMN TIME! I was like WTF?! Anyway, I would like to hear some inside juice from former valets... (not to derail or anything but it could prove educational) :D |

i always valet
...my wifes car:excited: |
when i go to my country club i valet, and they park her right up front.
|
Most of you guys are pretty uptight. I've used the valet numerous times and never had an issue with it. Downtown Charleston isn't exactly a good place to go speeding around anyway. Plus, the place I usually eat at that has valet, also has a hotel that is several hundred a night and up, so I figure those guys drive many nicer cars than a 370z.

Valet!
I have been a Valet for over a year now and can tell you no matter how safe and responsible I may be with customers cars not every valet treats them with the same respect if you know what I mean.......... and just cause it's a Z and not a $3,4 or 5 some odd Hundred thousand dollar Scuderia, Murcielago SV, SLS AMG etc, etc means nothing(in fact they're the ones that have $10,000 paddle shift dual clutch systems which make them way less fun to drive than any standard Z anyway in my opinion). those cars never get ragged on cause they're the ones who tip $20-$100+ for it to be up front. as for $5 to be parked up front that just does not happen (and i've valeted in many different areas). my advise is pay the $20 to keep your car up front weather you park it or not & they hold the key yes but just lock your glove box w/ any valuables and give them just the fob and your set. S*** just pay em $50 and who cares if you've got enough for dinner, your car's SAFE!!!!
Also sorry for taking up the whole page with one post, hope it's helpful. |

Valet? No we call a cab instead.
|
I usually attempt to "size up" the valet and decide whether to valet or not on the spot.
|
i watched a guy talking with the valet one night. He kept saying "i own a green Jaguar but thats not my green Jaguar" then another green Jaguar pulled up, an old couple got out and told the valet " i dont think this is my car" The old peoplegot in the wrong car and didnt realize it till they were on the highway.
One time I got to a hotel late at night and decided to valet. I checked in, got my bags and gave the keys to the attendant. I came back out the next morning and my car hadn't moved. They ran out of valet spots so they just left it there. Needless to say I didnt tip. |
