is there not a full-manual mode?

<---doesn't have much time in an auto Z, but my accord had a pretty much fully manual mode.

No, when you get down to a certain rpm (1200 maybe?), it automatically shifts.

Oh, ok. But only if it's pretty low then, I guess. That's not too bad.

I'd rather it not. I can shift fine myself.

I heard they made a transmission option that let you do that

But seriously, below 1200 is pretty rough. I think you are getting to stall-risk range there.

Well, like I said, I want to shift there as well. So I don't really want it going below that either. But it's not like it's doing the "stall shake" or anything. I just hate that the car and I both shift at the same time, resulting in me being in a gear I wasn't expecting and with higher rpms

You need to become one with the 7AT

I usually leave it in full auto mode when I'm on my daily commute. I'll use the paddle shifters whenever I want to have some fun and do some spirited driving. I feel like if I use the paddles everyday, it's not as fun because I'm so used to it. If I use them after a while, it's more exciting to shift with the paddles and makes for a more fun driving experience. I've only had the car for a few months though

Yeah it shifts down automatically, but not up.

I think it's closer to 1,500 rpm, but you may be correct (I haven't paid much attention). I've had the Z in the twisties and it isn't an issue at all. Sure, for everyday city driving it downshifts automatically when you come to a stop but who cares? It's no big deal and doesn't affect the fun factor when you want to add a little spirit to your driving.

If you want full control get the 6MT. I'm sure it's a blast to row through the gears in a 370Z without a computer to help you.

If you haven't paid much attention and aren't sure, why are you correcting me?

I do, since the point of my post was to say I would use the paddles more if the car didn't shift automatically.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that.
