Venting: Average car owner doesn't care...
I used to park away from everyone at work. But then I started thinking that some may find it rude (as if I am implying that no one is good enough to park next to me).
So I started parking next to everyone else. In one week, I have several really bad damages on my car. Paint completely scratched, several long lines and dents. I am superbly disappointed, no one gives a damn about anyone else's car. I have always been very careful with other people's belongings, including cars, long before I even owned a vehicle of my own. Damn it... |
This is why you say screw what other people think. Who cares if someone thinks you're a douche for not parking with the rest. At least you've got the peace of mind knowing your car is safe from their nonsense. Sorry to hear about the scratches/dings though. :shakes head:
|
Yep, it sucks caring about your vehicles like most of us do. The folks at my company know I'm a car guy and most take a little extra care around my car. They park a little farther away when parking next to it, etc.
It helps that I work for a small company too. |
I could care less what people think about where I park
|
Thats a tough lesson to learn. Most people don't give a crap about there car so there not gonna care about yours. Park as far you need bro

I don't park next to people for this reason!! I had a BMW before my Z and after 4 years? No dings or scratches. I could care less what people think I'm paying for it not them
|
I don't think people think we are douche's for parking away from others. Even all the non-car people I deal with at the office understand wanting to keep a nice car like ours nice. These are probably the same people that are completely oblivious to themselves smashing the **** out of our car with their doors.
Either that, or they think we have Miata doors. |
One time in my truck someone hit my bed while I was in it. They even knew I was in there. You'd think they'd be extra carefull. Well they got the chewing of there life that day even though there was no damage. As bad as this might sound to you guys, they better be lucky they didn't have one remark to say to me.

Kidding aside... I was torn between the new Camaro and the Z. I'm waiting for the 550hp Camaro and then I'll sell my S2k to pick one up. :driving: |

are you talking about a Z06 and Zl1? |
I know how u guys feel about dings and scrathes. I got my share of door dings shopping cart dings getting keyed, etc etc in the past. I couldn't stand it anymore and got a beater. I even got PDR training so I can fix my own dings just in case. :D
I don't have the luxury of worrying about my car so the beater is worth every penny. :D |
1 year with the Z. I park in Canada when I go to Target. No dings.
2 years with the Mazda 3. Park cautiously everywhere. Got my first ding last week. The moral of the story? I own too many cars. And people are jerks and can't park. Sorry for the bitter post. But the Mazda 3 does not have Miata doors. |

Not sure it will be worth the asking price though. My all time favorite car is the '69 Camaro. This is like a modern version of it. I could resist the SS (Z was a better car for the price...for me anyway) but you get it to 550hp for around $50k and it's quite tempting. I bet dealers will mark it up way too much for me to be interested though. Personally I think $45k is the most I would be willing to pay. Too bad it can't transform too... ;) |

F that. Noone's good enough to park next to me. I'll continue parking in another time zone in a parking lot.
|
Nothing wrong with parking where no one parks. It doesn't show your too good, it shows you care about your car. I only drive my car for pleasure. Have a truck that I drive everywhere and your right.....people do not care. Its almost like they think they don't have to respect anything anymore. And def don't park next to big trucks and mini vans

Personally, when I see a really nice car parked out away from the unwashed-masses, I think "Good for them". At least when they're parked in a spot like normal people. When they park sideways across multiple spots, I still think they're a douche.
|
i kinda thought that too when i park at work. but luckily for me, i pretty much only deal with 2% of the people that work here so i just don't give a crap what they think about where i park. i would imagine most probably don't care, but it they do think its snobby for me to park far then ill just let them keep thinking that.

Seriously though, the average person isn't an attractive thing. Avoid them when possible. You learned a good lesson, and it wasn't TOO expensive given other possible ways of learning the same thing. Go hang out with other successful people. Park near the ///M or AMG or Z06 or GT-R or other 370Z owner at work. |
There was an accident at my workplace parking lot over the winter. The lot had frozen over after some freezing rain, and some girl in a POS VW or something slid out of control on her all seasons while driving fast into a parking spot. She struck a car, which hit another car that also hit a van. You would think that you drive real slow in freezing rain conditions, it's not like the parking lot was NOT obviously covered in two-inch thick ice.
Meanwhile I'm parked way at the end of the lot with at least 5 - 6 car spaces on either side of me, rain or shine, no matter what. |

/sarcasm. |
The parking lot at my work is shared with the DMV. It's always full. I cross my fingers every day.

Everyone else be damned! I park where I want, and that is as far from all the douchebags as I can. Most people just don't respect other people's property and that pisses me off.
