Serious Question before I Buy

Every Red car I have had over the years has faded after awhile. I wax, keep em clean and even payed the big bucks at the dealer one time for the "paint protection"
Question is how does the red paint on the z's hold up, yes it will be in Garage 90% of the time but just wondering before I pull the trigger on my dream car.

One of the crapiest factory paint jobs I have owned. If you really want the car, get it professionally done. I will be when I get it back from gettin the SC.

Yes the factory paint sucks.

The factory paint is specially formulated to save weight

I have the red and it is beautiful. Fading has not been the problem. Problem is the paint seems to be thin and chips very easily. Rather than pain protection, spend for a ClearBra like I did. Get it immediately upon purchase and protect the front end and bumper from nicks and chips. The ClearBra will help a lot. My red Z is 18 months old and looks perfect. Red is no better or worse than any other color in this respect. The Z is beautiful in red.

:iagree: The red on the 370Z is probably the best looking of all the colors available.

Red on sports cars is sooooooo cliché.

kenchan 05-11-2011 07:50 PM

Just wrap it like doccam's ride. :D

Lemers 05-11-2011 07:52 PM

Wrap it for protection

I've had many red cars and red paint does tend to crap out worse than a lot of others. The biggest problem is oxidation. A good polish every once in a while will fix that kind of issue.

DON'T buy dealer paint protection. It's B.S. My buddy got a "lifetime" protectant on his new truck. I wanted to tell him how badly he'd wasted his money, but I didn't because he was happy.

All paint colors on the Z will chip easily. I don't think the red is any more prone to fading than any other though.

what kind of soap are you using? paint should not be fading if you are taking proper care of it!

I have a neighbor with a red 370Z. I only see the car once every couple of weeks and I don't know where she keeps it other than that. The paint, however, looks very good.

In general, red just sucks unless it's garaged. If you garage the car, it should be fine. If not, I would pass.

Whatever you do, I recommend you find a good installer and put some Ventureshield Ultra or Avery Nanofusion on it.

On my corvette, I use Rejex, and it is VERY good. Lasts for months, and road-tar comes off with VERY little effort. Normally just spraying it with the car-wash washer gets it off. (I hand-wash with microfiber, but the sprayer there is convenient to use)

Nissan nailed "red" on the Z. :iagree:

No paint problem with my MB.
