sports car
you really can't worry about fuel mileage and at the same time
hope to enjoy your drive like in F1 when they try to conserve-it's agony for the driver |

I don't really drive my Z on conservation mode and I do have fun with it as my DD, but I am interested in seeing some numbers on MPG improvements specifically from some bolt-on breather mods (Intakes, exhaust, HFC/test pipes) if any.

There's a conservation mode in the Z is that when the VDC is off?:stirthepot:

The best milage I got on the Z is 10.5L/100 KM (22.4 MPG) and 659km (410 miles) in a tank of gas. I use fuelly.com to track all my fill ups and I saw a guy with a 370z did 8.5L/100 KM (27.6 MPG) and 799.4km (497 miles) in a tank of gas!
Does that record to belong to anyone here? Yes I agree that 370z is a sport cars and gas shouldn't be a concern. But considering how the government teamed up with the gas company to sky rocket the price, it's beginning to be a concern. When I first got the car in 2009, a tank of gas cost $70 and as of yesterday, it cost me $110. That's 34% increase in less than 2 years. I wished my income can have that kind of increase. |
i always aim for the 15mpg range...anything over that and I'm not having enough fun
opportunity cost... |
I drove from Fort worth to Austin and back and set my cruise at 70 and averaged 30.3 by taking miles and dividing by fuel used. I find that I can easily get this If I drive very carefully. How ever 90% of time I drive much harder and have more fun. I have a auto with intake, headers, high flow cats,FI exhaust, reflash, pullies, advan wheels, everything but a supercharger. My car will and has done 12.6 in the 1/4 and runs out of power at between 170 and 175 depending on the day, I love it. Ps I have beat the 5.0 mustang, the new camaro ss and two stock corvettes, and many others. However I have been beaten by a cobra and a modded camarro, I love my car !!

I got an additional 1mpg by switching to non-ethanol gas.
The reason you get so much crap with a question like that is really easy to understand. No one buys a 370Z as a gas sipping economy car. Z's are performance cars. Did you think that when you bought a 332 hp sports car that you would get 30mpg? My commute is mostly 30-40mph and I get about 20mpg with non-ethanol fuel. Highway mileage is higher. But really, why in the world do you care if you get 16 or 12 mpg. You bought a sports car! |
