=P I only park on that side (compact) when I park on one of the end spots (eiher right side end or left side end) so I can go far over to the edge and give the person next to me lots of room.

But atleast I am not a huge truck parking in those spots =P

It seems just about every time I try this method, the car that parks next to me will not centre their car within the white lines but relative to my vehicle and the next spot. In other words they cheat their asses way over almost intentionally far enough so that any advantage you take is negated. My Z is ding free (knock on wood), I a super paranoid of some careless **** ruining my ding free Z. I'll park way at the back of any lot just to help avoid the asshats.

I hate that $hit I only park relative to the adjacent car when parking between the lines would put me dangerously close to a car already there. Actually, I generally just drive around looking for another spot.

So damn true. Most times when I park way over to the side in a corner spot, some idiot parks over the lines into my space. I parked far over for a reason, and that reason wasn't to give you a place to land wherever you please.

And just this week, in the parking garage at work, the same for me. I was on the end hugging the wall side of my space, but not for the big BMW to park in my space too. Find your own end space.

This garage is on a corporate campus, so if you are parking in it, you work here. I took the pic because the next time it happens I plan to chat with this person's manager.

I think the meaning of compact has probably changed since that garage was painted.

Now if anyone gives me grief about my parking job I don't have an issue going over the line when I am taking up the last spot and I am not taking up two parking spaces. Its also the farthest parking spots from the elevator.

On a cautious note to you bud, if the Red Box that mounted on the wall is a fire-hose, then I will park my Z away from it too, cause in case of a fire, firemen will not care about damaging the car park next to the fire hose since they need to access to the hose ASAP.

Valid point but I am not encroaching THAT much into that area. Actually my tire is on the very outer edge of the box. Sure I would not want someone parking that close to the edge if there was another spot next to them but I think I would be safe in this case.

Good point though.

Plus you have plenty of space due to the angle parking spot next to you.

However in case of a fire alarm I would run and get the car and myself the hell out of the parking garage before the fire trucks get there and have the time to...

Because it doesn't matter if you are park right in your spot your car will get some type of damage, because they don't care when there is a fire...

I grew up in a family of firemen and I can vouch for the fact that they just don't care about what happens in the heat of a fire call. A chance to go out on a call is like crack to these guys, atleast the ones I've known.
