Some people think I'm obsessive for parking far away or looking for that "just right" spot that offers protection, but who wants to deal with crap like that when it's preventable, or you can at least reduce the likelihood of it happening with strategic parking.
Aside from the cost of the repair or your insurance deductible, you have to deal with the hassle of getting the estimate and the down time of the car's visit to the shop not to mention getting someone to pick you up and take you to and from the shop when you drop off and pick up your car.
Who's got time for that nonsense?

Then it will apppear in carfax as the car having a collision, accident, repair or replacement part, unless you fix it yourself.

damn Ron, nearly the exact same thing happen to me 3 yrs ago to my 04 cts AT WORK. They let everyone go home early for the holiday weekend but i had to stay later. When i get out to the parking lot someone had turned to sharp and went across the front passenger side bumper.Took some of the paint completely off but no dent or cracks and they didnt bother to leave a note or anything. Believe me when i say for the next 2 weeks i walked the parking lot looking for the car i thought did it and to my surprise that car never showed back up at the office.

Mine didnt quite look as bad as yours does but it appears the scratches from mine were deeper. If you have not already had it looked at , going off of my repair the bumper was replaced and the cost i believe ranged from 1k-1200, cant remember. Insurance had no problem paying for a replacement instead of pushing for it to just be repaired. I just think it would be tough to find a place that can do a quality bondo job for 500 dollars but i could be wrong.

It's really not as bad as it looks. The actual bumper is ok, there are no dents nor is it bent anywhere. It's the lighting and the fact that's dirty that makes it look like its warped or something

Here's a closeup so you can see what I mean.

Still though, that really sucks. I'm sorry to see that you have to deal with this, are those marks superficial enough to be polished out? That's the first thing I'd try, even if all of it doesn't come out it will look a lot better.

Ron 10-06-2011 07:44 AM

there were some scuff marks but there are about 3 spots were the paint is gone. Better pics here: http://www.the370z.com/texas/43590-g...p-houston.html scroll down.

least the driver didn't hug/cross the line. I park like you, in a corner as close to the curb as possible

@RON: it doesn't look TOO bad but I would still see about getting it replaced. good luck man, that's pretty messed up but I'm sure it'll work out.
