I've noticed the windshield mounted rear view mirror can really block things. I've almost hit pedestrians a few times as the mirror is right in my line-of-sight when I'm looking

I've noticed the windshield mounted rear view mirror can really block things. I've almost hit pedestrians a few times as the mirror is right in my line-of-sight when I'm looking at the sidewalk corner on my right. I try to make a habit to lean forward or hunch down to check what's behind the mirror before I roll out.

Don't feel too bad, mine only has 2500 miles on it and she's already getting the rear bumper resprayed and cleared.
Work truck scraped it while backing out - no damage just took off paint + some scuffs. Dude admitted fault and his insurance is footing everything as well as diminished value claim.
