As if the Fuel prices were not enough

Just filled up today and noticed this out of the corner of my eye.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qoigst4szpI

As if 4 dollar per gallon gas was not enough. I watched it for about 10 seconds thinking to myself "who would believe this" then throwing up the  and whipping out my iPhone.

Anyone else out there experienced this???

Cmike2780 04-19-2011 12:17 PM

That's messed up. What did the attendant at the gas station say?

Kirkster 04-19-2011 12:45 PM

Bypassed the attendant and went strait to the manager of the location. They asked me to send them the video.

Undeground leak.........IT"S GONNA BLOW!!!!! RUN!!!!!!

JACKPAC 04-19-2011 01:57 PM

I have no audio at work. Are you holding down the trigger? And if so, is there a chance you're paying for gas escaping from the underground tanks? (gas gas, not liquid fuel).

spearfish25 04-19-2011 02:42 PM

Didn't you notice the puddle of gas at your feet? "Orange Mocha Frappachinos!!!!!"

TypeOne 04-19-2011 02:49 PM

Good thing it was only about $.20, eh?

Bleek 04-19-2011 03:32 PM

Thank you for making me self conscience every time I pump gas now

Zat_Zuma 04-19-2011 04:00 PM

Hmm I wonder if the OP knows how dangerous cell phones are. They are a excellent source of ignition for gas fumes

Just sayin .........

He is from Canada Ehh, it takes news a bit longer to get across the northern border. ;)

BeachZTT 04-19-2011 04:56 PM

That's pretty cool! They have the pump programmed to keep up with prices in realtime. or it's calculating the expansion of the fuel as the temp increases... greater temps equal greater volume. :icon14:

I should get the video clip of the gas station employee using his cell phone as a light source to check the tank level. He is dead now ..... burnt to a crisp.

Here in Canada cell phone usage is illegal when using a pump station to fill a vehicle with fuel. Not sure what your laws are but I know I wouldn't use a cell phone when refueling. I leave mine in the vehicle. They are one nasty ignition source.

Pffft. Everything is illegal in Canada. It's more like Europe than it is the US: nanny state overload.

Now that works for some people and obviously Canadians are happy with it, but that ain't how we do things here (yet).

dont you say bad things about Canada or they will send their army and invade the US and turn us into the Democratic Republic of America.

Please do.. because:

snopes.com: Cell Phone Use at Gas Pump

Mythbusters proved this is pretty much not possible either.

Most sparks at gas pumps are caused by static electricity, not from cell phones.

That is a mechanical issue. It happens at all gas stations eventually. Its called meter creep. The check valve is faulty and needs to be replaced. The only way a gas station knows its broken is if people like you tell them. I'll bet the pumps meter was calibrated by a state inspector within the last year. Check the sticker on the pump. Not a BJ's problem... its an industry equipment issue. If you hang up the nozzle like you're supposed to it wont do that.
