Here in San Diego the most that tries to race/overtake/or-being-a-plain-d0uch3 would be Corollas, Civics esp. hatchbacks, Prius, most 1 & 3 series BMW, Stangs and Vettes. :driving:

/\ ha! that's funny. Probably same douchebags that have the "I drive 25 in xxx" bumper stickers. (xxx is our neighborhood). PS--my wife (juno) met you at our Mobile gas station back when we had our GTR and you were one of the first folks here to have a 370z. So, howdy neighbor. :hello: |

people also dont realize just how easy it is to find a job making at least 50K a year, even with no college. its not what you know its who you know. i personally have no college and i had a job paying $70K a year by the time i was 22. most people are just lazy and sit around wishing they had what somebody else has. its nobodys fault but their own. |

Seriously though, I've noticed the same thing. Had a neighbor give me "advice" on spending too much $ for sports cars that are not reliable, burn too much gas and are not convenient. I appreciate him looking out for me, after all he's saving the world with his Prius and the fallout of destroying those batteries someday. He told me that at my age (mid-30's) I should settle down and get a 4-seater. I then grabbed my other keys, hopped in my S2000 and asked if I was doing things correctly now (after all...2 roadsters = 4 seats). He just walked away. |
i can deal with most everything being said here. been there done some of it...
but what's really getting old is people in other cars today it was a couple of guys in a gold 350 pulling up beside me and revving up wanting to either show off or race on a public road.... anything from a f150 to a civic what gives.. oh and the old stand by "how fast have you had it up to" like we all wait around for the first chance to drive 140 mph.... |

I had a dumb redneck ask me when I was going to trade my POS for a GT-R. I aslo get alot of moms in SUVs that gun it at lights after looking over at me.

Apparently plenty drivers bug me more in the 370Z than the 300ZX. I've been driving it for almost a month and rarely have anyone mess with me (i.e., tailgate, cut, etc.). The only attention I got was from a '99 Firebird V6 flexing on me as he drove by. O_o
With the 370Z, people love to tailgate me. I've taken it up pretty far one time and still get tailgated. That's why one of my bumper got scratched because of a tailgater who switched over, nearly side swiped me from crossing my lane, and carelessly switching over again scraping the bumper. Then there are people do ricer flyby and cut me off thinking they've won a race. On the same stretch of road on the way to work I get cut off by people at least once a week. When they do, it's always wedging themselves between me and another vehicle up front. What a waste of time. Going from the 300ZX to the 370Z, the 370Z definitely lacks immediate power. I can downshift and give it some gas, but it doesn't budge. So people almost always end up overpowering me and cutting me off ('97 Camry and a couple old trucks!). |
Last summer I was travelling very slowly past a strip mall store front just as a woman and two kids were leaving the first row of parked cars heading towards the doors of the store.
They weren't quite ready to cross in front of me so I kept going...as I passed by, the woman loudly complained that "the a**hole in the fancy car is too good to stop for us". I stopped a few feet further and asked her what her problem was and she really embarrassed herself in front of those kids...gotta love it. She's very lucky I have good self control. |

Yes, the "I drive 25" crowd is getting out of control. :icon17: Its not that I oppose driving slow through the neighborhood - that's actually all I do - but its those women that come out in the street and make a huge deal out of it in front of all their buddies blocking the road. One day - as I am driving - a woman charged up and yelled right in my window (which was down). I was probably going about 15 mph - there's no room to go faster - it was completely out of line by her so I flipped her off, and that was so much fun I just keep doing it. My wife says my neighbors are going to hate me. I say being liked by your neighbors is overrated. hahaha Although the neighborhood is definitely a slow zone I am loving that new road right across the entrance! Tell Juno I said hello. |
I used to work a few miles away from an elementary school, and don't let those moms with minivans and bumper stickers about driving slow, saving children, etc. fool you. They were some of the most aggressive drivers I've run into (not literally, of course, but they almost ran into me a few times). I always went the speed limit within a few miles of the school, and on the highway leading up to the exit the school was off of, those crazy women would go flying past me +20mph over the speed limit, swerving, braking hard, just trying to jump up a few spots. Poor kids, I can remember a few times them looking out the windows at me terrified. I can't imagine driving like that with a child in the vehicle. I'm sure those are the same kind of people who glare at you when you're puttering around at the speed limit in a neighborhood, just because of the kind of car you're in.

Hey, as far as i'm concerned, if your neighbors are acting like that, they can go **** themsleves, why'd you want to be friends with them anyway?? We're lucky in that all our immediate neighbors are either pretty cool or keep to themselves so I can't complain. I tip my hat to you sir for having the self control not to donkey punch that woman who charged up to your car yelling at you. I don't honestly know what I would have done but I hope I would handle it as well as you did. I have anger issues. Anyway, if we get some more Z's in the neighborhood we could have our own little Z car getogether. |
I got yelled at today by some Pakistani woman through my open window because I was crawling around 10 mph through a neighborhood and her damn kid ran in the middle of the road as I approached...yeah
|
I have had more people cut me off and do crazy things near my Z in the 2k miles I've driven it than in the last 10 years I've driven my GMC Envoy.
|
I have not had any of the things described here happen to me... maybe it is happening and I just don't notice it
|
I did have a Corolla S try to stoplight race me earlier today lol
|
A cop at a scene of an accident came up to me while I was stopped at a red light to turn right.
"Yes sir?" "I want you to... slow down" "Um.. Okay, sure" (I'm not moving...) "Thank you, go on speed racer!" LOL |

I had a cop pull me over and as I got out of the car, he asked me if I had any bazookas or grenades on me.
"Thankfully I left them all at home" was my response... |

Local county deputy pulled me over for speeding (was like 57 in a 45 on a deserted country road ). When he asked for my license and insurance, he said "Do you have any weapons in the car?", and I responded, "Yes, several", and he just smiled and left it at that and ended up giving me a warning. |
