Redline and rev limiter are the same thing, it is a soft rev limiter on these cars which is why you might not feel it cutting in as distinctly. If you floor it and bring it up to the rev limiter, it feels like power smoothly dials back so the the revs do not continue to climb, kind of like an electronic top speed limiter.

It is 7,500rpm also, found that out for myself the right way. :driving:

Yeah, it's definitely a soft limiter. I could see the rpm's go slighter over 7,500, before it dialed it back down to exactly 7,500 rpm.

What is it now with the new engine? : Two quarts in the first 1,800 miles then it miraculously stopped. Coincidentally when I put on the intakes.

Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the information. I am glad it is working out well.

People would probably disagree with me on this, but in my opinion, its not revs or spirited driving that kills an engine. Its time. In 15 years, time and improper maintenance will do much more damage than bringing it to redline a few times a day.

Every stop light, stop sign, turn, yeild... no lift shifts all dayyyyy  :driving:

So is the rev limiter the light that comes on? It doesn't actually bounce like the rev limiter in most cars?

Skeeterbop 11-24-2011 12:33 PM

During normal driving, rarely. But every other week I go out to the track and while I don't hit the limiter, I do let it get very, very close 3 times each run.

6MT 11-24-2011 02:35 PM

I don't have to worry about the limiter. :ugh2: (UpRev removal)

Limiters.... we don't need no stink'in limiters!

Blazing Saddles reference

RoshDawg 11-24-2011 03:02 PM

Probably 3 times a week. You gotta get your money's worth!

Baer383 11-24-2011 04:47 PM

Allot ,every time I drive it:driving:

alcheng 11-24-2011 05:34 PM

Redline? Yes, every time I start the engine.

you know what I mean.....

LOL

Seriously, I only have the car for 2 months, haven't hit the redline or rev-limiter yet.

When I was driving the 350z, I hit the red couple times, but when the VQ35 rev above 5500rpm, the vibration was just sooo much that felt like the car was going to fall apart....

haitech 11-24-2011 05:41 PM

25xx miles and haven't touched redline yet

sonic370 11-24-2011 05:42 PM

maybe once or twice a month depending on driving conditions.

i have the 7AT just love between 3nd and 4th.
or being in 7th and when passing dropping it down
to 4th
