Default squeaking/creaking sound from brake pedal

my brake pedal is making some intermittent squeaking sound when pushing it. any idea what it could be? the sound is from the pedal assembly itself, possibly near the fireall, so it's not from the brake pads or anything. i checked underneath and there doesn't seem to be anything loose, bent or broken.

Its the brake pads. Change it with ceramic ones.

could be your power booster...lift your hood up & remove the black cover closest to driverside windshield, the black-looking pancake compressor shape is your brake booster assembly. When you compress your brake pedal, a clicking sound could occur indicating possible failure to brake booster.

I had this happen. It's the pedal switch. My brake booster failed about two weeks after it started, though supposedly unrelated.
