Glad to see nobody was hurt. It always hurts to see a banged up Z for sure.

Standard Women Drivers
Im glad your ok bro, your skills as a driver seemed to help prevent more damage in this situation. |
Oh man, hope everything works out with your Z's Digitonium and 2theextreme.
|
Hey Digi, Sorry to hear about your Z. I hope the repairs come fast and not costly. Did the airbags happen to go off I'm guessing since you were around 40mph? Those are $$$ to replace.
Glad to hear everyone was unharmed. |
Ouch, glad to hear everyone was ok, did the insurance place you at fault? I was in a car involved in a similar type of accident and the insurance put the blame on our friend even though the lady in the other vehicle clearly cut him off in our lane. Something about her being already in the lane when we got hit.

Too bad, but I'm sure you'll get fixed up all shiny and new. |
Thanks guys... it was hard to sleep last night. Well that + super severe allergies.
I contacted her insurance (Progressive) to file a claim a few hours after the accident. A local rep called and I did the recorded interview, which was pretty easy. I started shaking again when I started talking about it (newb here). She says she will try to contact the other driver and ask her a few questions. Then I quickly mentioned that she was apprehended, and that threw the rep in for a quick surprise. She ask if I knew why, and I told her I didn't feel it was my business to ask. Basically, I kept a distance once the state troopers arrive and didn't want to say anything stupid while handling my own situation. I also notified my insurance that I was involved in an accident that was not my fault and was told to call the other party's insurance and deal with them first. Looking at how close the wheel was to being smashed, can you imagine how much difference if it was 1 or 2 MPH? Yup... pretty stressed. Just hoping my car is safe in the dealer body shop. I can take it anywhere, but it was already dropped off at the dealer shop. |

That sucks Digi, glad to hear you're ok though
Reminds me of an accident I had last year. I wanted to turn left onto the highway on ramp and there was a guy making a right onto the ramp coming from the opposite side of the road. Since there were no other cars on the road I began to turn left. This idiot (with his right turn signal on) decides to jump out of the ramp and keep going straight. I immediately slammed on my brakes and had my car completely stopped. It was a 2 lane road and I was stopped not in his lane, but in the one next to it completely out of his way. I thought everything would be good and at the last second this fvcker decides to swerve head-on into my car  The accident totaled my new 2010 maxima which I only had for 4 months. Worst part was, It ws declared my fault just because I was turning left. Luckily I didst get a ticket and no one got hurt. The only good thing that came out of it was getting more money back for the car than I bought it for and I was able to get the Z because of it. This is the only accident I've ever been in. |
sorry to hear about the unfortunate accident. Get her fixed back up and on the road again!
|
DIGI, super sorry to read what transpired, but you're okay and that's all that matters.
|
happy to hear you're ok. Good luck with all the repairs.... would be a good time for aftermarket front bumper
|
The bumper remains stock... INGS+1 lip waiting to get installed. I may simply install a black Pearl Burger emblem. :) I will keep you guys posted this Tuesday. Everything ell restocked, but I'm hoping to update my headlight seeing with some outside help.

Sorry bro. That has to suck. I hate seeing this. Glad your ok. After it's fixed, take alot of time making sure the bodyshop did great work. I see alot of bad stories here about that. Best wishes to you.

Damn sorry this happened. At least the damage doesn't seem that bad.

Props for remaining calm and not chewing the other driver out, though. |
Sucks a good thing ur ok..

Make sure you follow up with a diminished value claim...this is very important to do and they (the insurance company) won't mention it. I had an no-fault accident in my Z about a month after I got it where there was about $6,000 in damage. I got $5,300 in the diminished value claim to pay off a chunk of the loan with in addition to the damage being fixed.
This is to cover the loss of value of the vehicle after the accident. |
I just do not understand why people have to drive these huge SUVs'.
|
Update:
Over $5200 in damages. Body shop is currently working on my car. The insurance company was willing to pay for half the cost of modifying the headlights, and they only covered the broken headlight. The work consists of replacing the fender, passenger headlight, bumper, support brackets, passenger air box, and fix the hood. They will take it to another shop in town to work on the clear bra. In the meantime, I ordered a black chrome burger emblem for the front bumper. My car will look ridiculous for awhile because of the mismatched headlights, but I am in talks with a modder to work on "Version 2.0" of my headlights (originally done by CinCity). The look will be similar, but improved with different LEDs and painted shroud. Plus, the Ultinon 6000K bulbs will be replaced with Morimoto 5000K bulbs. When all the work is completed, I'll post updated pictures. This summer? INGS +1 waiting to be installed... thank goodness I never installed the lip. It would've been trashed. |

Out of pocket: Matching driver side headlight ($630) Morimoto 5000K bulbs to match both headlights ($55) TRS Projector Lens Upgrade ($50) Black Chrome Emblem ($75-80) That doesn't include over $200 spent on hardware to mod the headlights on my own (paint, LEDs, etc.). I've decided to have someone work on them for me, so figure another $200-300 on top. Quote:

Hey Digi, you don't happen to have an extra passenger side headlight do you?
|
Seems like things are moving pretty quickly, I hope you get your car back soon Digi. When you say better LEDs, are you updating them to brighter bulbs?

Thanks! The turn around time for CinCity took 2-3 months, and it took a few more months afterwards to get my core refund. But enough about that...
Well... I'm going to tease you guys with my new ideas since some new toys came in today. I'm still in the design stage with the "modder" for Version 2.0 of my headlights. Hopefully I get my car back late next week so I can take out the headlights and ship them out. Till then... I will speak little about the design. It won't be that exciting... just using different LEDs and making some other changes. :happydance: |
Update: Repairs Completed
I dropped by the body shop to check up on my car, and the repairs are complete! At first glance, everything looks great and it looks like the car was never involved in an accident the first place. There were no structural damages so they didn't have any issues lining up the panels. So the passenger fender, headlight, bumper, and hood were replaced. I also dropped in the black pearl emblem.
Next up is getting the clear bra installation on Friday. On Monday, new Hankook tires (from 255/35 & 285/30 to 275/35 & 305/30), Power Slot rotors, Hawk HPS Pads, G-Stop brake lines, Motul fluid, and Swift springs will be installed. Also, 4-wheel alignment is covered by the other party's insurance. Afterwards... I'm going to drop the bumper and pop off the headlights and ship them off to get modded followed by INGS +1 installation. Phew! Here's what it looks like now: http://www.the370z.com/members/digit...d-04062011.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/digit...d-04062011.jpg |
Haha, the Z has a black eye still. Great to see the Z restored to her prime, can't wait to see the lip installed!
|
Looks good! She's smiling again! lol
