New Z and I dont have the luck of the Irish

So my day started off with a flat tire so I changed it to the spare

(which was an spoked alloy which i was surprised by)

and drove to the tire shop. Well after finally getting the tire off the rim they find that it is unfixable. Apparently the inner side wall was destroyed and the tire would not hold air. Well of course no one in town has a Hankook V12 evo in 275/35/19 in stock.

Well Tire Rack to the rescue. In about 5 mins I had a new tire ordered and it should be here tomorrow.

So I almost had to overnight parts from Japan but in this case when I say Japan I mean Indiana......

So its been an unlucky day. I hope it gets better
Ok im done ranting and I love the guys at Tire Rack

glad your situation was able to be remedied.

if it makes you feel any better. after my rear wheels were stolen, when i got my car back from the insurance shop (they replaced the wheels) on the way home i got a flat up front, needed a new bridgestone. 300 bucks, on top of the 500 deductible i just paid.

haggomyeggo 03-17-2011 10:31 AM

well it doesnt make me feel any better because that would suck too

its just making me delay me getting my FI exhaust!!

spearfish25 03-17-2011 10:36 AM

Any high performance tire is going to need to be ordered. Local tire shops rarely stock tires used on <1% of cars.

hey dumbarse ;) hankooks are korean, not from japan. :ugh2: you deserve a flat tire for your racial implications.

yes i was. I was still on a kick from the 370z or Mustang 5.0 thread from yesterday.....

and yeah i knew the tire shop wouldnt have them but i figured one of the big warehouses in STL would carry them.

oh well the guy at Tire Rack was confident I would have them tomorrow. So no real harm done.

Red__Zed 03-17-2011 01:11 PM

Bummer. Glad to hear they're getting you a new tire QuickLy.

wheee! 03-17-2011 01:18 PM

Previous owner trashed the tires.... just my :twocents: :stirthepot:

Which one was it? about 3-4k after I bought the V12s I had the damn LR tire go flat... nail in the inner sidewall.

haggomyeggo 03-17-2011 01:23 PM

it was the right rear. No nail in it but there was lots of rubber inside the rim when they took it off. The Rim rubbed the inside of the sidewall bare. i had never seen that before.

I hope those V12s can last the summer but im already shopping for a whole new set. I had kinda wanted to get a winter wheel/tire combo for next IL winter.....

wait left rear if you are sitting in the car or looking at it from the front

the right side rear tire when you are sitting in the car is what i am talking about because the puncture was on the inside edge of the tire

Driver's side rear tire. That's the one that went out on me.

The car looks stupid as hell on the spare, doesn't it? :shakes head:

yes it does i parked next to a co workers big SUV so no one could see it. First question I get from someone in the office was "why are you parked next to another car today instead of out in the open like usual??":shakes head::shakes head:

wait til you discover all the other quirks about Steve's car. Between the white stains on the hood to the nailed tires, you're only starting.

m4a1mustang 03-17-2011 01:38 PM

Ha! Luckily for me I didn't have to drive it at all with the spare. I just put it on so I didn't have to jeep the car up on a jack stand in the garage.

ChrisSlicks 03-17-2011 01:42 PM

Korean tires are magnetic and will attract nails. :stirthepot:

wheee! 03-17-2011 01:43 PM

... he used to keep a spare can of Unicorn Blood under the passenger seat too.....

toxik 03-17-2011 01:44 PM

the white stains on the hood led to a hidden picture of naked Steve

I am now afraid to open any compartment in the car......

I replaced the window motor in my old 350 awhile before I got rid of it. A buddy of mine was helping me out and mentioned we should put something in the door panel of the car as a joke so we put a porno dvd in the door. Whoever would open that panel up to replace the stupid window motor or speaker or what ever would be like WTF.

I took it out before I gave it to Fusz though. Would have been a great joke though.

:bowrofl:

I thought about leaving stuff hidden in the car but I decided not to. But now that I think about it, it would have been really funny since a forum member now has the car. :icon17:

You can rest assured that there are no hidden surprises. And I always drove with my private parts completely covered... they never made contact with the seats.

What I'd worry about is the few months that Lou had the car... that guy is :superghey: :bowrofl:

im more worried about the idiot who bought the car for a month and brought it back to get an altima because he didnt like the B&M short shifter
and he "discovered" that a 370Z doesnt handle well in the snow

Talk about an impulse buy. thats worse than the guy who said he bought a NISMO on impulse and he wants a base auto instead. At least he knew he wanted a Z and just bought the wrong one

and if Lou TT'd it I wouldnt have minded:tup:

wheee! 03-17-2011 02:07 PM

#1. 6 hours 22 mins I-55 N and I-80 E 361 mi
#2. 6 hours 38 mins I-57 N 369 mi
#3. 7 hours 2 mins I-70 E and I-57 N 368 mi

none of these sounded attractive on the donut spare

I hope this is how UPS thinks and I get my tire tomorrow!!

I have a hockey game tonight anyway so im not driving to that

OP, i'm not sure why you were shocked that it's an alloy spare wheel, a regular spare wouldn't fit over the BBK.

You could probably still have a steel spare I guess...

Oh. OK, nevermind. :icon17:

Hopefully they don't do like UPS around here. I order some medical supplies from a business in California, they are shipped from Louisville (app 10 miles), go right past my house (literally) to Indianapolis (2 hours) and back. Something that could take half an hour takes three days. :icon14:

haggomyeggo 03-18-2011 08:09 AM

Update
1.The tire is "out for delivery"!!

2. My buddies last night after seeing my one black alloy are now lobbying me to paint all my wheels black. Im not so sure about doing this......

3. You know its great that Nissan designed the car to carry and 18" alloy and all but they failed on one point. if I was at the side of the road where the hell am I supposed to put the 19" massive rim and tire I just took off. It does not fit very well in the back and it does not fit where the spare came out of. To me this is a slight design flaw. However i realize this is probably how most cars are i guess

4. To add to my bad luck yesterday, my dog pooped in the mudroom at my house. Dumba$$........:shakes head:

Im just glad I get the tire replaced so I can stop having to keep the car under 45mph

m4a1mustang 03-18-2011 08:11 AM

Hmmm... let me find an old thread of mine real quick re: black wheels...

m4a1mustang 03-18-2011 08:15 AM

http://www.the370z.com/wheels-tires/...g-my-rays.html

I kinda feel like a really dark gunmetal (similar to the 40th anniversary) would look really nice.

haggomyeggo 03-18-2011 08:24 AM

were your spacers on in those pics??

that does look good. I think the red black looks a little too "street racer I did this at home" look to it

I like the gunmetal though. God there is sooo much I want to do to this car. Damn you Mustang why could you just not have left that exhaust on the car!!........(i understand why you wouldnt though)

No, the spacers weren't on the car yet. Those pics were right after I got the car tinted.

I would have left the exhaust on the car if I knew you were gonna buy it. :icon17:

haggomyeggo 03-18-2011 08:40 AM

ok so I just read the whole thread on your powder coating question and after someone mentioned the GT-R gunmetal color thats it.

I could really go for that. I googled red Nissan GT-R and wow that gunmetal really looks good on that car.
Damn another addition to the mod wish list......
