This is actually a sensible car to me :)

BrianMSmith 03-13-2011 01:41 PM

I am 40 and just got a Z, after waiting many years for the kids to get older, my income, net worth, etc to reach appropriate sums to drop 40k on a luxury car. But I am rather well adjusted, happy and successful, and I think the Z is a reflection of that, rather than a symptom of mal-content. Anyone who disparages us rewarding ourselves after putting in 20 years of hard graft and sacraficing to support a family, is simply envious and wants to conceal the fact they have don't have the ability to do the same.

Midlife has sure lasted a long time..
I have not had a car with more than two seats since 1987. Not going to start now.

The Truth of the matter

I saw a guy in a brand new Corvette. Although I'm pass the age of "mid-life" 35-45 as defined herein, I am not 60 or 65 as the grinning man appeared to be. For some of us, it takes us that long until the kids are gone and we can afford such a car. I bought my first sportscar, a red Rx7 in 1979, a year out of college. Again, I am convinced that people are simply projecting their own predilection onto others. I don't let it bother me. I just tell them "Are you okay? You're looking kind of tired these days."

When you have Adonis DNA and Tiger Blood coursing through your veins you dont call it a mid life crisis you call it "WINNING"

sonic370 03-21-2011 07:48 AM

it's all in good fun. but you guys that make fun of the older guys with their

new toys soon enough you will be in there shoes.... so then you can drive your
chey volts and feel good about yourself....

live and let live to each his own.. i can wait till i'm 60 or even 63 but its
going to be tough having to hold out for that corvette or maybe even what
nissan has to offer............:driving:

I salute you. That is the way to do it. I wish I had saved more and spent less when I was your age. My only complaint about my Z is not seeing other Z's around here. Once in a blue moon I see a 350, but almost never another 370.

For Kelleyefields

I salute you too. I didn't fare as well. I have Hank Hill DNA and molasses blood but I'll try to keep up.

For Brian Smith

I couldn't agree more. I wish I could have said it the way you did. Bravo!
