Makes me wish I wasnt poor lol

Will they be announcing the much anticipated oil cooler at the same time. More hp equal hotter oil. Unless, of course, the Nissan engineers went to a different Physics 101 class. :icon23:

BobDigi5060 04-06-2009 09:25 PM

Finally!! Finally the Nismo gets a bump in power to go along with the everything else. The Nismo is the complete package this time around and will be more appealing to Z owners and fans. I'm stoked.

Mustangs gain a good 150 pounds or so with a drop top so expect a weight increase of about 100 pounds. Decisions decisions :driving:

ditto that !

I'm guessing the 09 nismo gets direct injection and the coupe gets it in 2010. The roadster probably doesn't get it until 2011? Hopefully the nismo bodykit looks better than the last nismo. Pretty excited to see what it looks like.

mjd77 04-06-2009 09:51 PM

So what will we be looking at for the NISMO 370 coupe? 43-44k? :shakes head:

Why would the nismo have direct injection and the coupe not? I doubt they would take the time to design and engineer an engine variant with more hp and better gas mileage only to stick it in a low volume variant.

My guess is that this claimed extra 18hp in the Nismo version will be from a new exhaust/intake.

Possibly. The Nismo 350 was $38k but I'm just glad this is a better Z car and on paper getting a more complete package this time around. (Nismo)

If the 350hp in the Nismo comes by way of direct injection expect a price increase across the board when introduced in all trim levels.

BrokenVow 04-06-2009 10:09 PM

if the Nismo is getting DI, I still wouldn't expect the regular coupe to get it for a few years. they arent going to release a higher performance version just to give all the cars the same performance 8 months later.

ditto...

This isn't the first time I hear someone saying that the 2010 370 will get direct injection and a bump in HP, where are these claims coming from? nissan? or just speculative 3rd parties?

MC 04-06-2009 10:32 PM

very excited. thank god they gave it more HP unlike the 350z version (that i still love dont get me wrong)

but 350hp is a nice #

zman1910 04-06-2009 10:33 PM

Nissan has already stated that they will be utilizing direct injection technology in their future models. I remember reading about it in C&D about a week ago.

However I don't expect them to make that switch so quickly. This current engine will remain for at least 2-3 model years. If anything the DI tech will be a midcycle refresh for the Z.

I'm willing to bet the 350hp will come from breathing mods considering that most aftermarket exhausts/intakes are producing excellent gains as it is.

AK370Z 04-06-2009 10:45 PM

Good news. I can't wait to see the Convertible 370Z. AS for 350 HP, is it safe to assume Nismo Catback and intake can give us 18 HP? if yes, then that's about it. Nothing out of ordinary IMO. As for Direct injection talk, Yes! Nissan has shown interest in it but NO, we won't be seeing the Z get it in 2-3 years. I'm thinking the new ___Z in around 2015 will get it. It's going to be a new engine so I'm assuming a lot of testing and research will be done.

Greg 04-06-2009 11:09 PM

Yes! Finally... Who hoo!

I'm assuming with the website theme and your picture, they are going to bring "Interlagos fire" back?

MC 04-06-2009 11:36 PM

looks sorta like the specV midnight black....but its not (thats a $6K color)

Anatoray 04-06-2009 11:42 PM

Looks waaaaaaaaaay better than the 350 vert with the top down, but what about with the top up? If it looks as good, i'll be slightly envious, but then i'll remember the huge price increase and forget that emotion even exists.

FairmanZ 04-07-2009 12:08 AM

Hmmm, if the Vert and Nismo are about the same price, which to get?

Asheth 04-07-2009 12:21 AM

Hmm not saying that I dont believe it but why would they debut the Z roadster and the Nismo here in the U.S. first?

Who knows? Well see when we see... But one reason may be, the global economic climate for corporations especially the auto industry as a whole are very different this time round.

Yea that is true well this will be something good to see. I really can't see DI being the reason for the HP bump. Infiniti first in the G then the Z and as far as I know the 09 G doesnt have DI. Intake+exhaust! If that is the case then the Nismo exhaust and whenever they get around to it intake have good numbers!

Forrest 04-07-2009 12:42 AM

If exhaust is getting 17rwhp on semtex or RCZ's car, doesnt that put them at 350hp?

Ricer Math here so i am sorry but 332 flywheel plus 17rwhp = 349. I know you cant add flywheel plus rwhp but it was easyer to do that then figure out its flywheel HP.

Do you even need to add direct injection to get that number? from what i have seen no you dont.

I predect they unviel semtex car heheh.

iceman21_23 04-07-2009 12:56 AM

well if they did that they could say that the car has around 400hp at the flywheel, somewhere were semtex is at or very close to

Asheth 04-07-2009 12:57 AM

Ok based on this older article

Nissan 370Z NISMO: New images!

More images have leaked online of the forthcoming NISMO edition of Nissan’s new 370Z coupe. These eight new photos in particular show the S-Tune package for the JDM version of the new NISMO model.

According to a recently scanned brochure, the NISMO 370Z will come in two flavors: the NISMO S-Tune Aero Package and the NISMO S-Tune Performance Package.

The NISMO S-Tune Aero Package is the milder of the two packages and upgrades the 370Z with a revised front fascia, side skirts and a rear spoiler. Inside, the Aero Package spruces up the 370Z’s interior with NISMO floor mats.

The NISMO S-Tune Performance Package raises the performance bar, adding a new exhaust system, 19 inch NISMO wheels, an S-Tune suspension and upgraded brakes. No to be outdone by the lesser package, the Performance Package also adds NISMO floor mats.

No word if both NISMO packages will make it to U.S. soil, but with the base 370Z set to be unveiled later this month, we expect an announcement about the NISMO car in the coming months.

Exhaust! no DI.

Given the evidence we have so far from independent mod dynos on these forums, 18 (or more) HP from any reasonably well-designed intake and cat-back is pretty much a given. The stock exhaust on our 370s is total crap, and a poor match for the engine's capabilities, basically. The theory I was adhering to earlier was that they did this to lower the HP specs on the 370 to make the GT-R look better in terms of $$/performance. Now I'm thinking more like they did it to make the NISMO edition look better.

I think so. I doubt the Nismo exhaust alone is producing 18hp, and if I'm not mistaken, the Nismo intake is like dual pop-chargers, which put out about 6hp if they're similar to JWT's. Put the two together and you probably get your 18hp gain.

The average flywheel to wheel hp loss is 17%, so if you figure 17whp as being 83% of flywheel, 17whp works out to 20.48 hp at the flywheel. Add that to 332 and you get 352 hp.

I don't know I am looking at it 2 ways. One hand everyone wanted 350hp from the 370z. So its like Nissan did it on purpose and to make the Nismo more attractive. So they put a restrictive exhaust there.

On the other hand though its good for us because that means that Nissan did the same that they did with the GT-R. A vehicle that they could have made alot more powerful then they did easily with a diff tune. But made it just enough powerful as its target vehicle.

So if the 370z would ship at 350hp then I wonder what 1/4 times and 0-60 times you would be looking at. 4.5-4.9 range and 1/4 mile times of 13.2-13.4 which would be at Cayman S with PDK territory. For all the early test.

So throw exhaust and intake on your Z and you do have a definite Cayman S with PDK competitor. Maybe I am just a optimist or blinded by how great the Z is. lol

^ That is not too farfetched....

LiquidZ 04-07-2009 02:43 PM

That's a very nice looking roadster.

My guess is that this claimed extra 18hp in the Nismo version will be from a new exhaust/intake.

That would most likely be my guess. I doubt the Z will see the VQ37HRDD until MY 2011 at the earliest. That engine is scheduled to be introduced in the 2010 M sedan which hasn't even offically debuted yet.
