To what depths did you travel for your Z

Just out of curiosity..how far did some of you go/willing to go for your Z!?
I told my grandfather I would go to hell and drive it back if that's what it takes to find the right one for me!
His response: "You shouldn't need to go farther than 50 miles, I found our HHR within a 50 mile radius of our house" ...lol.

wheee! 03-03-2011 11:27 AM

Lol... Does going to Afghanistan for 7 months count? It's how I paid for it!...

I traveled from Minot to Fargo, which is about 4hrs worth of driving each way...
:happydance: and truth be told, I almost bought a Nismo while I was down in shreveport, LA, BUT the sales guy left, and wasn't there to finish my papers, even tho I was ready to walk out with the keys... and that would have been cross the country :)

tsolin01 03-03-2011 11:36 AM

I was living in Houston and the one I wanted was in Dallas, my dealer drove me there and I drove my car back so that someone else wouldn't be driving it for 4 hours.

Dreezy562 03-03-2011 11:38 AM

Worked in alabama for 4 months to pay for mine

Econ 03-03-2011 11:38 AM

Jeffblue 03-03-2011 11:40 AM

LOL. Well they are older and they seem to really like it. BUT, i am looking for either a 09 or 10'/GT/Sport/ either auto or manual depending on the best deals. I had a manual 350 and liked it at times but also didn't like it at times.

m4a1mustang 03-03-2011 11:51 AM

I drove 20 miles for my Z, 1000 for my 5.0 (in my Z).

kenchan 03-03-2011 11:55 AM

i just checked out a dealer nearby and they had exactly wat i wanted so made it real easy for me. test drove the exact car i bought with less than 5miles on the odo and plastic wrap inside. :D

By GT you mean, sport/touring/navigation.... fully loaded basically.

what color scheme in/out? i'll keep an eye open.

TheGreatOne 03-03-2011 12:01 PM

- I drove 1hr to a dealership out in the boonies that had this 40th anniversary on the lot

- Montreal and closer areas are pretty english, but the further you go out, its super french, so I had to bring my wife the first time to translate incase his english sucked, but wasn't too bad.

- I didn't sell my Lancer yet so borrowed money from my buddy for a Down Payment (Lancer is finally sold now)

All worth it and I haven't even driven the car yet except for bringing it home from the dealership a month ago lol.

Well more importantly the sport package, i will settle for a base sport. I like either black, yellow, or blue (POSSIBLY the Pl. Graphite as well) interior preferably black

I found the right Z 1300 miles away.

I flew out to see it...

Bought it...

Drove it back 22 hours.

BrickyardZ 03-03-2011 12:46 PM

900 miles each way for me to pick up my 40th Anniversary. Cinti, OH to Deland, Florida. Nothing local and not a bad deal in FL.

Just have it shipped to you

Vegitto-kun 03-03-2011 02:18 PM

um about 40-50 miles? dealership a 15-20 minute drive from my place.

They are the only one selling the GT-R and apparently every other dealership has to get Zs from them so yeah.

Dembflyr 03-03-2011 02:37 PM

6 years of wanting a 350z followed by about 18 months of trying to decide if I should just spend the extra and go for the 370. All the while paying off over 50k in student loans.
When I decided to buy, and after my student loan was paid off, I found a good deal on a car in Connecticut. Bought it and drove back to Indiana the next day.
Good thing I used to live in Connecticut. Had a friend pick me up at the airport and drive me the 50 miles to the dealer.

Red__Zed 03-03-2011 03:54 PM

About .2 miles from my office to pick it up.

wilsonp 03-03-2011 05:32 PM

About 110 miles round trip, but 96 was the wasted trip to a dealer that didn't want to quote a trade on my NSX after saying they would.

Then pretty much the car I wanted showed up used a couple of weeks later at the local dealer :D

elmz 03-03-2011 05:34 PM

I ventured 1.5 hours for mine.

b1adesofcha0s 03-03-2011 05:37 PM

150 miles each way in the snow from MD to PA. Took about 3 hrs each way.

zmyride 03-03-2011 06:30 PM

I went to heaven and the Z found me there.

Baer383 03-03-2011 06:38 PM

Went to the dealer in Atlanta and he went and picked it up in North Carolina, picked it up 2 days later.

Yup, pretty much the same waiting period here, then drove 15 km (fortunately close by) out of the city to try a relatively new dealership which I heard had a reputation for great customer service (Sherwood Nissan...which happens to be Canada's number one volume dealer 6 out of 6 years it's been in business...free plug BTW) instead of a closer dealership that I had dealt with for 12 years prior, and referred many people to. Happy I did. My 40th happened to be the first one that they brought in, and was the first one sold in the Edmonton area...I guess my timing was perfect on that one.

LunaZ 03-03-2011 07:11 PM

I shopped and test drove at dealers 2-1/2 hours from my home, but I was in the D.C. area on business, anyway.
Ended up finding the one I wanted about 45 minutes away.

spinhead 03-03-2011 07:34 PM

From Germantown, MD to Murfreesboro, TN, with an overnight stop in Cincinnati. About 800mi each way.

Kirkster 03-03-2011 09:10 PM

Picked mine up on the way home from work. No extra miles...

Lemers 03-03-2011 09:14 PM

533 miles both ways. I am stationed in el paso tx went to my home town in San Antonio tx and bought it. The Z also traveled to me from Houston tx to Austin tx to San Antonio. The trucked it from Houston to Austin so no extra mile but drove it to SA for 90 miles at pickup.

I had to drive to Lunaz's neck of the woods 2 and a half hours away to get mine. At a Ford dealership.

Some traitor probably traded it in for a Mustang! (let's see...how far did Steve say he drove to pick up his 5.0?) :icon17:

OldGuy 03-03-2011 09:55 PM

Drove from the non-competitive Pittsburgh market to the very competitive suburban Washington DC market and saved thousands. Well worth it and easy to arrange, now that we can shop by internet.

rambunctious 03-03-2011 10:17 PM

Its not so much as how far I traveled but more-so how far the Z traveled to get to me.. 1200 miles to TX on a trailer...

I did the exact opposite as you, lol. Also to save a couple thousand dollars.

EazyD 03-03-2011 11:35 PM

400 mile round trip to a forum user's place to first see it, then another trip to pick it up :)

cossie1600 03-03-2011 11:51 PM

I was home within 15 minutes

essixx 03-04-2011 05:05 AM

My wife and I flew from Des Moines, Iowa to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One hour fight time, just under eight hours drive home with stops for gas and food. First time ever driving a Z. Almost wished it was a longer drive, we enjoyed the car so much!!

roadfever 03-04-2011 10:46 AM

Went about 100 miles to get mine. Got lucky and got a great deal by findinga new 2009 with the options I wanted still unsold on the lot in mid - late 2010.
