Picked mine up on the way home from work. No extra miles...

533 miles both ways. I am stationed in el paso tx went to my home town in San Antonio tx and bought it. The Z also traveled to me from Houston tx to Austin tx to San Antonio. The trucked it from Houston to Austin so no extra mile but drove it to SA for 90 miles at pickup.

Ended up finding the one I wanted about 45 minutes away.

I had to drive to Lunaz's neck of the woods 2 and a half hours away to get mine. At a Ford dealership.

Some traitor probably traded it in for a Mustang! (let's see...how far did Steve say he drove to pick up his 5.0?) :icon17:

Drove from the non-competitive Pittsburgh market to the very competitive suburban Washington DC market and saved thousands. Well worth it and easy to arrange, now that we can shop by internet.

Its not so much as how far I traveled but more-so how far the Z traveled to get to me.. 1200 miles to TX on a trailer...

I did the exact opposite as you, lol. Also to save a couple thousand dollars.

400 mile round trip to a forum user's place to first see it, then another trip to pick it up :)

cossie1600 03-03-2011 11:51 PM

I was home within 15 minutes

My wife and I flew from Des Moines, Iowa to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One hour fight time, just under eight hours drive home with stops for gas and food. First time ever driving a Z. Almost wished it was a longer drive, we enjoyed the car so much!!

Went about 100 miles to get mine. Got lucky and got a great deal by findinga new 2009 with the options I wanted still unsold on the lot in mid - late 2010.

I drove 10 miles

I drove over to check them out, saw a red one in base with spoiler package, and bought it two months later

That's hysterical! The Pittsburgh area dealers wouldn't even negotiate with me when I proposed my no trade, cash offer that I figured was more than $1,000 under invoice (OTD) for a new '09 in November '09. But two large dealerships in suburban DC fought over me for that deal and the more accommodating one got my business. I guess it's all in the timing but the outcome is all that matters.

Actually I went to Easton, PA which I just found out is actually pretty far from Pittsburgh :p

I was looking for a used one though so it was more about which dealership had one I wanted for the lowest price. They had it listed at $28k initially and I offered $27k, but they said no. All of a sudden I see on Autotrader they dropped it to $26k so I told them I would be there to pick it up that weekend. It may have had something to do with the big snow storm that weekend :)

Only the complete opposite side of the state. :p

I hope you took a detour and headed to cigars international in Bethlehem on your trek!

I didn't realize Pittsburgh was on the other side of the state till I looked it up on Google Maps.

Also, new $25k car + first RWD car + snow storm + 150 mile drive = going straight home and no time for detours. I've never heard of that place and I don't smoke so it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway.

I did see the sign for Scranton, PA. I was so surprised that it was an actual town and not just some made up place from The Office. If I made a detour, that would have been it.
