Thank you to all the idiots....

I just got off the phone with my insurance company to get a quote for a 300zx twin turbo. In the process, i found out that my 6 month premium on my Z has increased from $1,214.60 to $1,612.00 without a single ticket, accident, or claim. They have reassessed the cars risk factor in the past few months, and i would just like to thank all the idiots who crashed their Z's by doing stupid shit like driving in the snow with summer tires, turning off VDC and deciding to learn to drift on public roads, etc, etc.

Accidents happen, and often times its no ones fault, and the most important thing is that no one gets hurt. But if you crashed your 370z by being a moron, i would like to hereby thank you for raising my insurance premiums:tup:

Here's some balloons:

Why the **** is your 6 month policy that high to begin with? Even 1200/6 is ridiculous.

toxik 03-03-2011 10:54 AM

lol @ jeffblue rant thread.

guys don't forget, one of the best way to avoid an accident is to get a rear view camera, PM JeffBlue if you need one on your OEM navi!

Cell 03-03-2011 10:55 AM

Yea... I hope my rates stay the same or at least drop. Maybe it is time for you to look for a new insurance company.

And yea... your rate is insanely high. My one year is 12xx.

Location, probably. Z's are expensive to insure as well.

Geico tried to add on the same rate adjustment for me. I told them I'd go somewhere else, and they kept my current rate. Worth an ask.

Side note: Current 6 months prem is like 777, with a mustang it drops to 300.

I'll join you in offering a collective :icon23::icon23::icon23::icon23: to all those who have jacked up our insurance rates.

.... no don't do that... please for the love of god... DON'T

partsguy 03-03-2011 10:59 AM

You need to put a little effort into trying to find a lower rate instead of a blanket blaming policy to all those who drive the car.

My 370 started at 95 a month then progressively stepped up to 125 when all the morons kept crashing them.

i'm not blaming people for my high insurance rates. i'm blaming people for the DELTA between what was my high insurance rate, to what is now my incredibly high insurance rate.

daisuke149 03-03-2011 11:02 AM

that is a super high insurance.

phelan 03-03-2011 11:02 AM

i didn't say anything about just turning off VDC. its when people turn it off and then decide to push the car harder than they ever have before. lets not turn this into a VDC Debate. i agree VDC is pretty lackluster and overbearing.

how old are you and who is your carrier?

toxik 03-03-2011 11:04 AM

Jeff, was your VDC off when you made the call to insurance? That could be the reason.

FuszNissan 03-03-2011 11:04 AM

Age, Marriage Status, Driving Record.

wheee! 03-03-2011 11:04 AM

wow... my rate with full coverage for the '10 370Z is right about $1000/yr. My '08 Lincoln MKX is $1200/yr!

...but my '85 Suzuki GS850 is only $48/yr lol

failingboy 03-03-2011 11:05 AM

My rate increased by over 50% at my last renewal. I was told that the car was still new and the adjustment reflected updated data. I can only think that this has to do with claims by other drivers. $1600/six months is still more than double my premium after the rate hike. That seems way too high.

want some pics ;) maybe with a panda in a 300zx or something?

JACKPAC 03-03-2011 11:12 AM

My insurance just went up do to the "bad economy". Apparently, making only a billion a year in profit is not enough. I'm about to shop.

tsolin01 03-03-2011 11:17 AM

Definitely switch companies. I was with Geico for over 5 years, no accidents or claims, the rate with the Z was 800/6 months then I shopped around and got $1000 a year with Amica. Geico didn't even offer to beat their rate or anything so screw them.

Even for NYC that seems really high. I don't know how these insurance companies come up with these rates though... my gf just started looking for insurance for her new 2011 rogue and she got quoted 500-700 more than me for my Z and she's over 25, no accidents or tickets on record. I would have thought she'd at least pay the same or less than me...

That's why.

When you turn 27 (i believe is the break) and get married it will drop huge!

partsguy 03-03-2011 11:22 AM

NO SOUP FOR YOU!! er.... I mean no insurance for you!

Jeffblue 03-03-2011 11:23 AM

well, i'm on my parents policy (with the car registered to me and with me as the primary driver) and i've been under the impression that would save me money. Seems like i may be better of on my own policy... but then again 22 with your own policy and 2 sports cars is... :ugh:

Econ 03-03-2011 11:26 AM

Im 21 on my own policy with not married...one accident, and like i said im paying 2400 per year...

and that was the Lowest BY FAR... i was given quotes of 8K for 6 months, no joke

THATS WHY THEY CALL IT QUOTES, DUMASS. U CALL N GET A QUAOT ON UR INSURENCE TO DESIDE IF ITS A BETTER DEEL THAN WUT U GET ON UR PERANTS POLICEE. OK?

jeez.

:)

b1adesofcha0s 03-03-2011 11:29 AM

I have my car under my parents name and its currently at $450/6 months. Just for fun I wanted to see how much it would be if I had put it under my name and it came out to be $2600/6 months
BTW, I'm 21 and I have an accident on my record from last year.

Also when I was still shopping for my car and getting quotes for insurance I remember that a GT-R cost like $6 less per month to insure than the Z (under my parents name).

wheee! 03-03-2011 11:29 AM

quick... run and get Steve's blood pressure medicine.

NO, NOT THE VIAGRA.....!

wow thats INSANE. theres a big difference in the rate when you aren't listed as the primary driver... because they assume its a middle aged person driving the car.

My current carrier is Geico, but I literally searched for quote through about 50 different companies... some of which I even knew the owners personally, and they were way out there as well

wow that's not bad for being 21 and on your own policy in NY. that's fully coverage?

christian370z 03-03-2011 11:46 AM

Definitely time to switch insurance companies, I am 20 and my insurance is much lower than your original price. But don't blame the guys who crashed, it is not their fault VDC didn't kick in enough yo.

kenchan 03-03-2011 11:56 AM

humm....my last payment for 6months was less than $300...

Cmike2780 03-03-2011 11:57 AM

My rate just went up from 780/6 months to 960/6 months with Allstate. Clean record, no tickets in the last 6 years. I got a quote from Gieco for around 720/6 months so I'm gonna be switching. Its complete BS if you ask me.
