When I turned off VDC, I saw God.

I think people need to capitalize more words in their posts. I like to eat pizza AND drink coke but NOT diet COKE. YEAH, so THERE.

And turning VDC off during DD seems like a good idea until you crash. Then you realize it stands for 'Very Dumb Choice". Like unprotected sex...really fun but then you're sorry you did it.

to be honest i don't give it much thought. it usually stays on out of habit.
iv'e always felt the vdc was to sensitive anyway. it doesn't take much to break
the wheels loose anyway. and for now tires and insurance, tickets, wrecks etc..
can be costly............

Or just drive within your limits.

Hmmm, I haven't turned it off yet because I've been afraid of losing control and crashing. I think I will try it out today on my way home from work. Don't wanna do anything too crazy, just wanna get a feel of the car.

Felt it slide a tiny bit and it was fun. Not gonna do this on any regular basis, just when trying to have a little fun and when its safe (i.e. empty road and safe driving conditions). No need to do it on my daily commute, that would be just stupid and useless. I just didn't want my first time driving with VDC off to be at the drag strip this weekend. Don't want any crazy surprises there.

I've got 1st generation Viper, C4 Corvette and Kremer Porsche 911 stories.
Do those count?

spearfish25 02-27-2011 07:24 PM

Pretty sure the Viper has no VDC of any kind whatsoever. Hence why it's a death trap for moderately affluent sofa racers with some extra cash in their pockets who want a 'fast car'.

My SENSE is you WILL understand what I'M saying better IF I capitalize a LOT of words.

(why do i keep nodding my head forward and pausing when I read the capitalized words?)

You're putting the emPHAsis on the wrong syLLAble!

I don't understand how people say not to turn VDC off when DD. So when do you recommend VDC off? When your spirted driving or tracking? Get where I'm going?

I understand what your saying. I guess its just safer to have it on rather than off, especially if there's no reason to have it off. When you're spirited driving or tracking, you are expect the car to slide a bit and you are prepared for it. If you are DD and have to swerve to avoid hitting something at high speed, you may not be completely prepared. In this situation, you may lose control if VDC is off, but leaving it on may save you. Of course this is just a hypothetical situation, but something like this is the reason I choose to keep it on most of the time. It's better to have it on and not need it than to have it off when you do. Just my :twocents:
