It was an Izusu, I think. Not sure what model, though. It was just a freak impact. One in a million.

Techurious 02-19-2011 05:08 PM

Unfortunate event. It's a bless you made it out relatively well. Hope you have a quick, full recovery and back to your work soon.

Kirkster 02-19-2011 05:08 PM

For once, I don't think this will buff out...

Sad to hear about the occupants in the other vehicle.

Good luck healing up...

Looks like it was an Isuzu Hombre. Basically a Chevy S-10. If I'm not mistaken the fuel lines run down the drivers side. Given that they were probably old and rusty they could have broken easily in the collision and sprayed pressurized fuel all over the hot exhaust. Instant fireball.

susu 02-19-2011 06:33 PM

wow, insane ! Thank your lucky stars you got out alive. can imagine if you were concussed or passed out and not able to get out in time!
Thanks for posting these pics despite all the pain killers on board !
good luck for your upcoming surgery!

That is true for some things, but this is the last way I'd want to experience that phrase. That bone break is gnarly!

CATCHINZZZS 02-19-2011 06:44 PM

damm you lucky u got out.....

370Z Purist 02-19-2011 06:57 PM

That is insane, I have never seen a single accident as bad as that anywhere.

Good luck to you and your wife in your recovery. Hopefully you can convince your wife that a Nismo is in your near future. :bowrofl:

I'm just trying to keep a sense of humor, albeit warped, intact about the whole thing. I refuse to let it have a negative affect on me.

thats very sad to see, but as glad you made it with minimal injuries, wish you a quick recovery

Viera 02-19-2011 09:35 PM

Wow, I am so sorry for your loss... Thank God you are okay and still with us. I hope everything turns out for the best!

Cyberium 02-19-2011 09:38 PM

As others have said, glad your ok man.

I'm still shocked about how totaled that truck looked. The whole thing looked like it fell apart on impact.

Reading that news article you would definitely assume that the driver of the small sports car would of been killed but it was the other way around. It's crazy

So sad to hear that the 19 and 20 year old kids died.

Best of luck with everything

Baer383 02-19-2011 09:53 PM

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said, but I'm glad your OK and Nismo's are cool.

good choice.:driving:

Forrest 02-19-2011 10:00 PM

rep for taking pictures of a flaming 370z! I would be to out of my mind to even think of it.

mengel 02-19-2011 10:33 PM

Get well soon!! It is really nice to see how well the Z does in an accident, sorry you had to go thru it. Maybe have your surgeon call Stellin to see if they have a mod for your leg.

j/k!

Glad you are both okay!!!!!

Cmike2780 02-19-2011 10:51 PM

We're all glad to hear you guys are alive. It's times like these that you realize what really matters in life and how easily it can be taken.

Our prayers for those in the truck and for a speedy recovery.

SMJane_Again 02-19-2011 11:07 PM

Sundown,

I don't post often, but this situation is more than worthy of comment. I'm very glad you made it out of that accident. I hope you are able to get back to working from the helo soon. Rest up, and I hope your new Z gets to you before you know it!

ONEighty 02-19-2011 11:47 PM

Take the emblem off for memory :/

Ztoon 02-20-2011 12:24 AM

Wow!! Your guardian angels are working overtime!
Great presence of mind on your part to be able to scramble out of a burning car!
Rest well, and wishing you a speedy recovery.

JBradley 02-20-2011 01:05 AM

My prayers are for you and your family and for the family of the couple who were killed. The pictures were amazing and very helpful to see the Z's structural integrity. You and your family are very fortunate.

Fezzik 02-20-2011 01:14 AM

May you have a speedy recovery. Thank God you were not knocked unconsious from the impact and were able to get out. RIP to the other two.

djpathfinder 02-20-2011 02:47 AM

Incredible! Glad you're OK and able to tell us about it. Get better soon.

Thanks for the get well wishes. I should be going into surgery something today, and hopefully soon. I'm going to ask the ortho doc if I can copies of the before and after x-rays and get 'em posted up here.

ProfessorDave 02-20-2011 08:30 AM

Sundown! Why are you up so early! Take some pain meds and go back to sleep!

My sleep pattern has been so screwed up since the accident, it's ridiculous. I can only comfortably sleep on my side at home, and with my right leg in this temporary splint, I've got to stay on my back. It doesn't mater if I raise my head, lower my feet, raise my fett, lower my head, or any combination, I just can't get comfortable. I quick dose of dilaudid gets me about an hour of sleep, but that's it.

Still waiting on the final surgery today for all my titanium parts to get installed. I'm sure they were special order and FedEx is the delay. Thats the way it always is the cars.

Paul_S 02-20-2011 09:13 AM

Frightening photos :(

Sorry to see this but glad you made it out of your car OK.

I hope you are physically and mentally 100% again V soon.

As soon as they quit giving me these damn drugs, I'll be 100% ready again. I see this kind of stuff every day at my job, so I probably have a slight advantage on the mental aspect of dealing with it.

The physical part's going to be a bitch, though.

Makes you almost glad the extra few hundred pounds on the Z actually help save lives. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall any fatal 370Z accidents heard about on this forum.
