Shoot me know. Butt ugly.

Red__Zed 02-09-2011 11:13 AM

looks very concept-y

flashburn 02-09-2011 11:17 AM

I posted about this earlier...
http://www.the370z.com/other-vehicle...ncept-car.html

Like Red__Zed said, it looks very concept-y, which means it will look nothing like that when (if) it comes out.

Next iteration of the Z? :ugh2:

ThoriumHotdog 02-09-2011 12:22 PM

I bet it will have a hybrid motor in it.... :(

Looks like a CRZ smashed into a Crossfire, which was swallowed and partially regurgitated by an RX-8.

EV....

It's using the Leaf battery pack.

mark_taba85 02-09-2011 12:26 PM

wow that is ugly...sale would definitely drop. More like a F than a Z

dad 02-09-2011 12:27 PM

Batteries, how much will it weigh?

Uhg.... I'd rather own a car that eats gas like crazy and only drive it once a month than an electric car that gets its power from smog producing coal plants.

SoCal 370Z 02-09-2011 12:44 PM

Will it require Nissan Ester Batteries?

(Just joking.)

Nope, but it will require that the batteries be installed by Esther.

Zaggeron 02-09-2011 12:49 PM

What are you guys smoking? I think that looks hot!. The Nissan designers must have gotten together with the Mazda designers on this one. It has similar lines to some of the Mazda concept cars.

Supposedly it will have a 150 mile range. Still, it will lack two important sports car features gears and an exhaust note

PapoZalsa 02-09-2011 12:52 PM

How much more are Esther's labor rates over normal rates?

"Drill, baby drill"! The gas like crazy cars, pollute oceans, from their "oil drilling platforms"! It's a no win situation!

toxik 02-09-2011 01:02 PM

i think the younger you are, the more likely you are going to like that concept. and don't knock on the EV aspect, at least that's innovation.... who wants a car that does what others have done in the past?

m4a1mustang 02-09-2011 01:03 PM

It is an impending reality. We all know that Nissan is trying very hard to get ahead of the green curve and reinvent the brand in a green image... so it only makes sense that the next generation Z will be a little plug-in.

They are only $30/hr, but she moves really slow. Work will take at least 6 times longer than a normal shop.

flashburn 02-09-2011 01:06 PM

I hope I never get to the point where the only car I own is electric. I always want to have at least one "gas guzzler". Even if it means getting scowled at and dirty looks while driving around town. The future is going to suck. :(

SoCal 370Z 02-09-2011 01:08 PM

If I were to judge it on styling, I would say it's not bad. Looks as though they have provided some battery cooling by running ducting from the front through the chassis to exit out of the rear. I like that wheels are located to their farthest points both front and rear (I have never been a big fan of nose-draggers). Of course, this is concept drawing and the final will most likely be nothing like the drawing.

The future will be best if there is more mass transit and less personal vehicles.

That's why I always tell everybody to enjoy the cars they are buying now because they won't be around for too much longer!

Is it that you hate too many people or just people? Ever ridden on a bullet train?

I hate too many people.

I would never do the mass transit thing... I like my freedom of transportation.

Unless they try to build a frame that is similar to the Lotus (underpinnings for the tesla) and not a standard setup, it will most likely be to heavy to be fast. they claim a "rollbar-integrated aluminum chassis swathed in a composite shell" but the lotus has a glued aluminum tub that only wieghs about 150 lbs with everything else hung off of it. The Leaf's battery pack weighs 600 lbs. You may get some weight savings by switching out the gasoline engine for 2 smaller electric motors but most likely it's still gonna be a little pig.

Under current technologies, most likely true, but newer technologies could change all that.

Cleaned up my original post a bit. :D The reason the tesla has great performance numbers is the frame design from Lotus. No one is coming close to it's weight with normal frame design. The advantage to electric is instant torque. I remember when the Leaf was at this point, people were speculating a 2800 lb car. That turned out to be a gross miscalculation. You have to change battery tech to really get some weight savings and that's going to be problematic. Zinc/Air batteries show great power to weight ratios but they tend to catch on fire if pushed too hard. Not a great feature in a car. :D

Seriously!! i dont know why everyone always over looks this. People call electric cars "green". dont they know where that electricity is coming from?

not to mention how hard the manufacturing process of these batteries is on the environment.

hypocritical.

HKYStormFront 02-09-2011 02:52 PM

a little birdie told me they already have the next Z pretty much ready. not sure if that means the Z35 or the refresh/update of the Z34 but i'm interested to see what's on the horizon. also, since the GTR has moved up to (a rated) 530 hp, that leaves room for the Z to make upwards of 400 hp or so realistically without encroaching on R35 sales...
