tanooki- you should be able to engage 2nd with light throttle with NO clutch slipping. you're just giving just a tad of throttle to maintain flywheel speed. the full clutch

the full clutch engagement point is pretty high on the z, but it starts grabbing pretty close to the floor. should be no issue.
