splash guards or no splash guards

Just picked up my new 370, PG base with sport package. It came with the splash guards. What's everyones opinion on them. I kinda like the clean look. I need to take them off now before they rub a line in the paint, if I am going splashless. Thanks.

Keep 'em on. They are taped, drilled, and screwed in place.

Here's a thread on splashguard opinions. Hope it helps!

If you like the 'clean look', like SoCal says, "Do it!".

Personally, I think they look nice, so I would keep them on.

But whatever you do with your splash guards, make sure you **** all other cars on the road whenever you can, please.

StLRedrider 03-31-2009 06:33 PM

With splash guards, they look good. I ordered mine with.

Now there's some info I can use, thanks! I was not aware they were taped. On the '06 they were just screwed.

I have them, they are smaller at least than what was on the 350 and blend in better. Might as well keep them on, they will protect your sides from rock chips.

355890 03-31-2009 09:03 PM

Of course you want to keep them.......I negotiated them into my deal, as a must.

RCZ 03-31-2009 09:11 PM

If you take them out, I am looking for a set :) I will give you $30 for them :)

alan93rsa 03-31-2009 09:26 PM

They were on my car when I purchased it. I didn't even notice them. I like the look and the protection.

Ct Chip 03-31-2009 09:30 PM

They are hideous looking. I've seen them in person side by side with a car that didn't have them. I realize it's a matter of personal taste. Nissan made them a "mandatory option" when my car was ordered so unfortunately it will have them on when it comes in (April - May).
All I wanted was a base, 6 speed with sport package.
None of the poser junk.
They are out here, I've seen them - but Nissan would not build the car that way when the order was entered in early February.
I went as far as contacting Nissan via email about this beforehand. They responded that they would build the car but when the order was entered it was denied repeatedly until the goober flaps were ordered. Another case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.
Ridiculous IMO.
I already told the dealer to remove them when the car comes in - hopefully before I get to see it.

:hello:Congratulations and good luck with the new Z!:driving:

zylont 03-31-2009 09:44 PM

I say keep'em.

LOL, I think I will be leaving them on. The rear ones are taped all along the length of the guard to the edge of the bumper. If I did remove them, there is a chance the tape has cured well, and I might have paint issues there. I do like the look of the car better I think without them, very clean look ...... but they did a lot better job with these compared to the ones on the 350....... these are sleeker and a lower profile, which I do like.

I bought a Z with splash guards, and am VERY happy I have them. They are very low key, but do a GREAT job! Keep 'em!

Thanks, not going to take the chance screwing up the paint since being enlightened that they are taped as well.

Picked up my 370 last week and plan to order splash guards from e-Bay tomorrow.

I'm going to take mine off and get some Yosemite Sam mudflaps that say "Back Off". That will be off the hook.

Are the opinions out of date? If not, why bring up age of thread?

OP: I like the clean look as well, but if they are installed leave them alone.

Probably because the thread bump from the dead had nothing to do with the opinion of the splash guards? He wanted to buy some lol.

onzedge 10-11-2011 10:58 AM

If mine did not already come with them, I would not have ordered them. That said, I like them now that I have them.

Splash guards are poser junk? I guess floormats, leather and bose stereos are poser too? There's alotta guys that would say buying the sport pkg is VERY POSER. Many believe "why buy a cheap azz sport pkg when you can have 6piston Brembo's, Volks, a OS Giken or Quaiffe lsd, KW3 suspension and an amuse or Zele bodykit??? See it really sux calling people or there tastes posers because someone that can afford the $25,000 in mod parts just mentioned would call you a poser with a sport pkg.. for a lot of guys all those parts mentioned are pre-mods before the real mods. (engine mods.)

This guy hasnt posted since November 2010 :-p

dennis26 10-12-2011 06:47 PM

I like the splash gaurds on mine. The only drawback can be the color match between them and the main body. On mine you notice the change of color. I'ts like a bumper repaint that is not blended with the rest of the body.

Damn, I just noticed that. What is the deal with the ancient thread resurrections? Lol.

Either way, the comment should've been addressed years ago. So I did. Lol:ugh2:

To guard against spashing of water and rocks (more importantly) up onto your rear quarters and front rocker panels. That's about it.
