no offense but if there is no official leak i wouldn't bet money on it... a nissan rep knows nothing about whats in the pipeline consider them a glorified salesmen.

I highly doubt this.
Maybe 2014. lol...
I'm sure they'll do some mods to the body but not the engine itself.

Seems a little soon for them to do this. Maybe in a couple more years. I'm not buying until december so if it's true, I'll count myself lucky.

360HP for the base Z or the Nismo? Where is the increase in HP is going to come from?

SPOHN 01-31-2011 08:18 AM

I really don't see this happening for 2012. Maybe on the next model Z35. They havn't even really addressed the oil cooling issues yet.

Ya, I had a Nissan "rep" tell me at last years Car show that in 2011 there was going to be a hard top convertible... okie dokie

Argh!!! I was dreading this for a while now... Who knows if its true, but if it is, I'm going to wish mine had it. Anyway, I believe the Infiniti M56 already has DI injection, so Nissan has the technology in place already. Rumors have been floating around for a while now, that the G was getting it next. So these rumors aren't too far off.

The discrepancy here, is it a 28 HP gain or 10HP. From a less than certain source. To put off the purchase of a car based on this seems a little silly. The extra money Nissan will charge may very well be off set by an exhaust and CAI's today. Maybe not.

well i got my Z so am ok, but its not just the "out of the box" numbers that matter here. DI is more tuneable by far, mod for mod it will squueze out a little more HP than non DI...once you do they math on a full bolt on and tuned Z, its a very significant.

Cadillac has a DI and NON DI CTS, with that bieng the only diff, offered same year...one makes 304hp 274tq, the non DI make like 264hp and 250ish tq....

Wow!

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true, honestly the 370z is being eclipsed handily by the Mustang GT and is going to face competition from the coming refresh of the Genesis and now the uprated v6 Camaro, it would need this power increase to stay competitive IMO. In its current state, I don't see the 370z being really competitive for much longer.

GZ3 01-31-2011 10:16 AM

whats the uprated V6 camaro getting?

blinkme323 01-31-2011 11:07 AM

As much as some don't want to admit it, this is coming sooner rather than later and has been in the works for some time. Just check this article:

kenchan 01-31-2011 11:12 AM

cool. but im fine with wat my Z provides today. even at the advertized 332hp that extra 2hp at the end just makes all the difference. i know when that last 2hp just kicks in.
