Hit and Run

So, some @sshole tagged the hell out of my car in a parking lot yesterday, and drove off. There was only one witness, and no security cameras in the parking lot, so I have nothing to go on except that it was a white truck. So basically, everything from the left rear wheel back was totally caved in. AWESOME!!!!!

kenchan 01-18-2011 02:50 PM

 comprehensive damage

Sorry to hear about that

SPOHN 01-18-2011 03:29 PM

Wonder how much damage it did to the truck if any? Maybe that will help identify it more. But what are the chances of it being found though? Sad thing is if you did the same thing to the same person it would be all hell. This world is so hypocritical.

Educ8r 01-18-2011 03:32 PM

let's see how many post "sorry to hear that"

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pics. I left my phone at my house, so I wasn't able to take any. Now, I'm tooling around SoCal in a really sweet Chevy minivan rental. I'm so pimp. :ughdance:

Did your car get hit multiple times? Must have been pretty bad.

Even though I don't have a 370Z yet, I had a nightmare about it.
I drove my 370Z to drop something off at someone's apartment. The streets were full except for the area past a small barricade. I didn't see any road work in that area and some cars were parked there so I decide to park there too and left to drop off something.
When I came back looking for my car, I noticed that some people were hanging out in the spot where my car should be, but my car was gone. Other cars that parked in the area were still there. I got that horrible sinking feeling as I walked by the group of people who looked like gangsters. I can feel them slowly turn their heads to stare at me as I walk by.
For some reason, I pressed the locater button on my key fob in my pocket and I heard my car beep (door unlock noise). It was nearby, maybe it didn't get stolen, and got moved. That or the thieves are still nearby. My heart was racing at this moment as I moved towards the sound, and I can feel the group of people slowly closing in around me as if they know who is activating that sound. Just as I was about to get jumped, I wake up.

Milenko2121 01-18-2011 06:46 PM

Sorry to hear that, I am.

plato 01-18-2011 10:12 PM

How bad is your damage? If declared a total loss, can I call dibs on your akebonos and stillen parts?

plato 01-19-2011 12:39 AM

I was only "half" joking. :)

Waiz 01-19-2011 12:53 AM

This blows, I would try to ask around at the neighboring businesses to see if they were able to catch anything on video, you never know.

Where did this happen BTW?

ImportConvert 01-19-2011 05:06 AM

Reminds me of my Teacher's son in highschool. He had an '03 Cobra he had just bought, and about 6 months later, someone hit the car (hit/run) while it was parked on the street at his dad (my teacher's) house. His insurance had expired the day before (end of the week) as he was not having it drafted, and was planning on paying it that monday when the ins. company opened back up.

There. A shitty story to make you feel a LITTLE better!

370zproject 01-19-2011 02:04 PM

:worthless: sucks...

shoopajae10 01-19-2011 04:58 PM

what he said

themann1984 01-20-2011 06:05 PM

I think the damage is covered by their uninsured motorist coverage. If the driver had stayed and reported the incident it would have been paid by the driver's property damage coverage. However, since the driver left, there is no insurance to cover the damage.

Collision covers damages to your car when YOU hit something. Comprehensive covers damages when something other than a car hits your car. This should be under UM or UM-PD (depending on the state). If it is under UM they shouldn't have to pay a deductible.

usually UM applies only if the insured captures a valid license plate to which the insurance company can pursue to recoup the payout. Otherwise, anyone can and will say "I was hit by unknown vehicle, I have uninsured motorist,I dont have to pay anything right?" This and most cases fall under collision. Just a little heads up if/when you file your next claim ;)

It will eventually catch up to him

definitionxmk 01-22-2011 01:40 AM

oh man! not too long ago, i saw some truck graze my work van and just took off... i couldn't get the license plate but i don't think they would have done anything here in Bahrain =(

ResQguy 02-02-2011 04:18 PM

Went to pick her up today. I swear to God, my car looks like a team of Special Olympians tried to put her back together. The gaps were F-ING HUGE. I'm so irritated right now.

HKYStormFront 02-02-2011 05:42 PM

that sucks :(

SPOHN 02-02-2011 06:23 PM

What is wrong with people these days? From customer service to actual work. People are so damn lazy and don't give a $hit about the next man. There's no such thing as pride no more.
