That is a great quote - classic. Grats on the P-car! While I love the Cayman, I think I could live with the "VW" configuration of the 911 a little more - perfect DD/grand tourer.

:). I don't want to sound like a proud Dad but I just love being able to actively switch the suspension and sports mode on the fly.

I do hate the key. Porsche should have followed the Z's key fob design.

Yeah, I don't even think about the Cayman anymore.

I am seriously thinking of buying a Zed and test drove an auto today. I curently drive a 6sp manual MX5. I thought the zed was great and VERY easy to drive, so your comment that you got tired of pointing the Zed around corners sounds like crap to me and I beleive you never had a ZED and that you are probably around 16 years of age. How can anyone say driving a ZED is hard? Maybe you should go for a Prius when you old enough!

Lol WTF. Way to totally misunderstand his comment.

Drive a Z and then a 911 in anger and you'll notice you are making more corrections in the Z than you are in the P car.

C'mon man, i have not driven a 911 but from what i have read the 911 is an inherantly poorly designed car with a terrible f/r weight distribution. Now ican not imagine a 911 will feel so much better thaqn a ZED around a corner with so much rear weight bias in the 911 and once you acceralte that weight bias ia made even worse, so i can not imagine the 911 would inspire much confidence. To me today when i tok the Zed on a test drive, man did it feel great through the corners,,,flat, grippy and fast and so solid. i do not know cause i have not driven a 911 but IF it is better then it is only probably fractionally better and so it ought to be considering how much more it costs than the ZED. ANYWAY WHERE ARE THE OP'S PICTURES????

Well that is definitely true of the older ones but Porsche has really worked the balance to resolve all the tail happy madness with the modern versions. The Z is really good, but the P cars are just that much better. You've got to get out and drive one to really appreciate it.

Steve, a 370Z costs $67,000 here in Melbourne, a Porsche 997 starts at $225,000. Now I'll blindly accept it is better but look at the cost difference and I really would love to see some sort of professional test to evaluate the difference in terms of percentage. I'd wager that it would be less than 5% between the two yet the difference in cost is huge! Don't forget that Porsche makes the most profit from the sale of its cars, so to me what this implies is that they are ripping you off and you are paying a lot more then you perhaps should be paying for the car.
I mean if Nissan can ask $150,000 in Australia for their GTR, why is Porsche asking so much for standard 997 that is infeiror to the GTR?? I am a value for money kinda guy i guess but i do understand that to get fractionally superior performance it is going to cost more and more money but then that argument is blown out of the water by the GTR.

Holy cow that is insane! Over here a fully loaded Z will run you 38k vs. 77k for an entry level 911, or 50-60k for a more comparable Cayman S.

When I was shopping for a sports car I did a lot of back and forth between the Z and Cayman S. I felt like the Cayman was a better car in all performance categories, but to me it wasn't worth the extra 25k or so.

From a value perspective The Z will always come out ahead, but performance wise the P cars will best it. Its just up to you to decide if that step up in performance is worth a very large price difference.

You are my man as you read between the lines. As I said before, we are all car fanatics !!!!

Nickx2,
FYI, I wish I were 16 years old. Unfortunately, I am in my 40's. As for me not owning a Z, aaaahhhhh, please search on my posts. I still have a bunch of parts for sale if shipping to AU is no issue :) BTW, being mature, I apologize for my little hidden humor---- please take a deep breath and relax. As Rodney said, "Can't we all get along!" :)

Lastly, FYI, the MX5 was awesome. Unfortunately, we had to sell it as wifey decided to buy an automatic Honda Civic.
