Default Phone unlock for Nissan

Saw a commercial showing that you could use a phone to unlock your Nissan. Looks like an app that would make your smart phone act like the intelikey, but I can't find any real info on this. Does anyone know or think if it will work with Previous model years?

I believe the feature was turning on climate control and it is for the new Nissan leaf.
It is a similar feature that the Prius has where it can run the AC or something.

Only part that sucks is that you have to purchase a service plan in order to use it..

I was thinking that an app could use the rf in the phone to act as the intelikey. If the phone and the key support the same Frequencies then Why not?
