The guy in the shop said to use a toothpick instead of the brush but that didn't work. I wiped it off fast right after I applied it. Maybe I'll get the one you have.
Maybe you should have let it dry first?

No, it doesn't apply in a thin enough streak to fill this scratch, even using a tooth pick or the ball point it was gloppy. It would look worse than the actual scratch itself if I let it dry. I basically need to fill a scratch that is razor thin...

Is it through the clear coat?

If you don't feel comfortable don't, or find someone with experience who can help you. But if it didn't go through the clear you might just be able to polish it out, or you could wet sand it, to see if you can get it out. Then if needed use a small paint brush to fill the scratch with the touchup paint, let it dry and wet sand it again. Then polish it up back to a shine.
