If it is totaled dude the car is not being repaired. And whether it gets repaired or not determines on what the insurance company decides.

Jamaica 12-22-2010 06:53 PM

Dude thagts an easy 10k worth of work. I hope there is no frame damage could be more

frost 12-22-2010 06:55 PM

If you have GAP insurance, it really doesn't matter what they would give you for the car, GAP will pick up the tab.

I just saw those pics maximized, and the conclusion is its probably a write off!!

I agree over 10K easily.

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 07:00 PM

So with GAP whats the price that is considered the car worth? For instance: KBB says my car is worth around 35k and if insurance pays 30k then GAP pays 5k? And if this is true, who determines what the car is really worth ?

sonic370 12-22-2010 07:01 PM

sorry to hear and see that. it looks pretty bad i'll throw my bid in at 18,000 to 20,000. you don't won't to hear this but if it was mine i would pray for it to be totaled. imo from the looks of it just judging by the pics,i hope you find a damn good body shop..............

GAP is for your loan.
Say you owe 35k on the car.
Insurance pays you 30k.
GAP gives you 5k to cover the rest of your loan.

kgreen 12-22-2010 07:02 PM

no ur LOAN amount...if owe 30K and the insurance gives u only 25K..gap insurance covers that 5K

Right, and since there is a sport 370z in your area going for $26k, I don't think they will give you much more than that.

Bullit recommended Artcraft Collision. I checked it out and it is 2 hours away. Just wondering though why would you want the car to be totaled? Like what would you do with the money? Personally, because this is in my best interest, i dont want the car to be totaled because if there is a chance to fix it we (my parents and i) would probably fix it. If it is totaled then i doubt my parents would get me a car half the price.

Diminished value. A car that has a wrecked history has extremely low resale value.

Those are the details you may end up having to fight out. I had to argue that my camaro was an SS and not the cheaper Z28.

Do those insurance faggots try to cheat you out of your money like that? wow then again if i have GAP that covers any BS that the insurance plays right?

I may sound really dumb for this. But i heard from a friend who wrecked his Bimmer that you can get your car repaired like to original quality and that the price doesnt drop or something. I may have misheard but do you know what i am talking about?

that is true to a certain point..if the repairs are under 10K then it doesnt go on the carfax. its happened to me once

kenchan 12-22-2010 07:19 PM

sorry to hear about your accident. :(

Snakes709 12-22-2010 07:27 PM

Or you could just leave the insurence company out of this, pay $20k out of your own pocket and repair it yourself. As long as the engine isnt damaged, everything damaged can be done in your driveway...lol. And it wont effect the resale value cuz no one will know about it.

Ghost 12-22-2010 07:28 PM

To me, it looks like the car is totaled. Of course this is pure speculation from the pictures you've posted, but it does look as if you may have some rail damage.

I'm not sure how carfax works, so I was kind of asuming the fact a police report was made would assure that the collision made it on to carfax.

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 07:35 PM

Alright a new problem arose. They towed my car but never told me where they took it. Is that a problem and what should i do?

Wow. they should ask you where u want to take it..if not its probably in there tow yard until u tell them otherwise

Junior370z 12-22-2010 07:37 PM

Dang sorry about your accident man! Glad your okay! It does seem a lot of Z's are getting into wrecks. Scary!

You call the police department of the city where the incident took place and they'll tell you.

Snakes709 12-22-2010 07:37 PM

call them up and ask them where its at. You going there wont help any. The insurence company will go look at the car in the next few days to get a estimate of how much it will cost and will decide what to do.

Well if the collision took place in a busy area, and the vehicle isn't operable, they'll have it hauled to a yard nearby and then have you pick it up.

Of course each state has their own way of doing things.

true. in TX they take it to their tow yard so they can get that$$$ then charge u more when they take it to the collision center

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 07:45 PM

I forgot to also say that the engine wouldnt start. I held the brake down and pushed the ignition button but it wouldnt start.

Snakes709 12-22-2010 07:52 PM

is it make any sound at all?

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 08:04 PM

Well it was on "on" mode but wouldnt turn on.. cant remember my head was swishing around.

kgreen 12-22-2010 08:06 PM

im not sure if it is supposed to turn on if the airbags deploy..if thats not why then yes its bad

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 08:27 PM

Can someone please confirm if the engine doesnt turn on after air bags deploy? Because I really wish this car isnt totaled. Also can anyone determine or speculate if there is engine damage?

Dembflyr 12-22-2010 08:37 PM

Not sure if it has to do with the airbag but most newer cars have an enertia based switch that will shut the fuel pump off.

There is no way anyone on here can tell you of it's totaled.
My advice, don't stress about it. Nothing you can do about it now. Most of the time you'll know something in about a week. That may take a bit more with the holidays.

Glad you are ok.

Ghost 12-22-2010 08:42 PM

Normally, your engine is probably not starting because the ECU (or whatever computer it is) detected that there has been an impact and it shuts things down for safety. At least that was the case with my Mitsu.

But there could be number of things, most common being blown fuses, damage to relay/fuse box and damage to other sensors/wires and such.

You can't diagnose this issue online, I'm afraid.

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 08:45 PM

Thank you so much for everything. Thanks for the support and help. Really i wish i would have died (with the car). Too much stress and too much pain to endure. But thank you for everything. I guess i probably wont be apart of the370z.com unless they say its not totaled then we will fix it and ill be back for some more.:tiphat:
