No sir. my gut feeling was that they were going to fix it. When i stopped by the collision center yesterday i spoke with the mechanic and he told the car had no structural damage at all. Everything was just cosmetic damage...bolt off old parts and replace with new. Might just fix it and sell it

how much is the check they cut you if you dont mind? maybe it could cover the cost of a new body kit and wheels and suspension that might dull the pain of knowing its been in an accident. "free" mods :ugh2: just a thought.

kgreen 12-23-2010 04:52 PM

ok nevermind now theyre saying it hasnt gotten reviewed. i spoke to the lady thats going to look at it and i think she got the hint of what i want haha. monday she will call me back...but if they do repair it i want a lipkit and exhaust haha

Thats not bad. Sorry about the whole situation but it is best that it was totalled so you dont have to deal with a repaired car that isn't 100% right. Now you can look to pick up another Z or something else... Keep us posted!

How much are you looking to spend? Luxury sedan or Evo/Sti sedan?

kgreen 12-27-2010 07:57 PM

luxury..slightly used. isf, cts, m3. if u didnt buy the mustang what would u get?

Probably some luxury sedan. I like the Infiniti M56 but it would have been a little bit out of my price range.

I like the CTS-V, but only the new ones and again those are a little on the pricey side. A used M or AMG sedan is an option but after my experience with Mercedes I will never own a German car out of warranty.

BennytheBlade 12-27-2010 08:42 PM

g37 sedan gives you a lot of what your looking for. Sorry for your loss but at least you got a decent amount for your car.

I agree about the G37. You get the luxury with respectable speed and handling. No nosebleed performance but then again your nose won't bleed when you sign the check. :tiphat:

chuckd05 12-27-2010 10:42 PM

CTS-V with the supercharger is one bad *** machine...

and I am lmao at the import comments.. i give him credit for sticking around with the constant thrashings he takes...

I agree with that but the Z isn't a slow car. Sure, it depends on how far away the guy was when OP saw him but how long does it take the Z to go from 50 to 80 mph? What about 30 to 80? Lots of variables here but I would have down shifted into full throttle and got out of the way. Anyway, like I said, lots of variables. :|

That's the trouble... lots of variables. Plus if the guy is already at speed it still takes a bit of time to get up to his speed and accelerate away from danger. I'm sure in this case the closing vehicle was pretty close and the OP felt like the only way to avoid an impact with that car was just to get out of the lane.

Now if he was driving a five point o-- :p

Really, though, I think the OP made the best heat-of-the-moment decision he could and it looks like the situation has been resolved for the best with the car being totalled so he doesn't have to drive around in a Z that was pieced back together. So now the question is... what's next? Another Z or something else. :eekdance:

Just went car shopping all day and really didnt find anything attractive. a buddy of mine has used car lot and just got in a '10 Camaro SS fully loaded w/ aero package also. he'll give it to me for 32.5K but im not an American muscle car fan

chuckd05 12-28-2010 08:31 PM

camaro is gross in my opinion.... Z>camaro

m4a1mustang 12-28-2010 08:49 PM

If the Camaro had a nice interior and was at least 400 lbs lighter it would be badass.

well, yes...but then it would not be a camaro.

m4a1mustang 12-28-2010 09:02 PM

Back in the day they had some nice ones. Waaaaaay back in the day.

Junior370z 12-28-2010 09:05 PM

What about 135 M series?

Tjai370Z 12-29-2010 12:15 PM

I see you guys are talking about the new 2011 sti here.
why havent anyone mention the Lancer Evolution yet?
doesnt the evolution stomp on the sti? (sti understeers)
the evo x has an awesome S-AWC system.( super all wheel control)
sents diff amount of torque to wheels depending on which has the most grip. and its not just front and back, its separated to 4 diff wheels.

the evo x is really mod friendly. ( and cheaper)
a cobb accessport can already give you at least 30-50hp, after that exhaust.

the thing is, you have to get past the interior,
it has awesome recaros, but no height adjustment.

theres 2 transmissions,
a 5spd manual and 6 speed twin clutch automatic( super fast shifts, some say even faster than the m3 automatic)

yeah too bad no 6spd manual but the 5 speed is a lot stronger.

besides it space for 5 people!

YOU CAN PUT THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE IN IT, AND SCARE THE LIVING HELL OUT OF THEM WHILE YOU TAKE THOSE TIGHT CORNERS.

I would buy about anything besides the new Camaro. It has a nice engine/transmission, but after that, the package falls apart. Raced a few in my '01 WS6, and they were certainly no faster.

Just curious, why do you not want to go back to a Z?

mick 12-30-2010 05:00 AM

i would feel the same as kgreen: i would want to try other brand, having already owned a z. however, it would be easier for me to find a suitable replacement since i am not as picky :)

BennytheBlade 12-30-2010 06:29 AM

If ur staying in the 30k-35k range and want a sports car, I like the z and the stang. Let us know what u do.

kgreen 12-30-2010 07:23 PM

dont hate me guys but i went ahead and took the deal on the SS. searched everywhere in this city and found nothing i like and buddy gave it to me at his auction price so it is a damn good deal. my plan is to keep it for about a year since 2011 i will be out of town for work alot so i will be bringin plenty of extra cash then purchase something i really want. everything is out of my range right now since this came in unexpectedly.

Yessss! I remember in high scrull, a buddy of mine had a '72 Camaro. That car fueled my car dreams for the longest time.

I wish I could've found one when I myself could finally afford to buy my first car. Instead, I ended up with a '76 Firebird, which was kind of a POS. :shakes head:

I'm kind of a mixed mind about the new design. From some angles, it can look pretty damn cool; from others, it just looks ridonkulous and overblown.

But, you know, different strokes, yada, yada, yada. I'm just happy the OP is back on the road. :driving:

m4a1mustang 12-31-2010 10:13 AM

I like the front and rear views. I think it looks odd from the side.
