Stupid F-ing deer!

5 small deer jumped out in front of me on the way to the UPS store tonight to send Z1 back someones freshly powdercoated Gen 3 intakes. Missed all but one, unfortunately. It ran off into the woods, so I think it was ok.

No oncoming traffic, so I went into the opposite lane at a 45 while stopping, and hit him in the rounded part of the fender. Now I need a new fender and need my front bumper repaired.

On the bright side, those that worry about the stillen bumper and molding and later cracking issues, it did crack a tiny bit, about an inch, but most of the mold is in tact.

thats a deer hair in the bumper

Sorry to hear bambi got hit :(
Good thing is your OK, and the damage looks minor. :ugh:

daisuke149 12-21-2010 06:36 PM

damn Mike. sorry to hear that man. : /

ClemsonWill 12-21-2010 06:37 PM

Glad to hear you are ok. It could have been much worse. Sorry about the Z.

Xan 12-21-2010 06:43 PM

I know you like to gun it while driving the Z, but this is not the way to go hunting...

Mike 12-21-2010 06:43 PM

(un?)fortunately, its not enough damage to file a claim for. One day I will give my body shop some insurance claim work! I think I've spent about 20k there in the last 5 years for elective modifications or track damage repair. At least I have a guy!

PapoZalsa 12-21-2010 06:52 PM

Glad to hear you are OK and that the damage was not that bad...

Xan 12-21-2010 07:09 PM

You could of course go for some nice aftermarket fenders...

Mike 12-21-2010 07:48 PM

nah, unless its functional, I don't have any need for it. money is a little tight right now.

but I was thinking, my doctor gave me a prostate exam today when I got a physical and she said she hoped it was the worst thing I would have today. Have to tell her it wasn't. Sure it wasn't fun, but it cost a lot less than what this will.

Lemers 12-21-2010 07:56 PM

Should put deer alert whistles on your z

You'd never make it in central Jersey. 1 in 3 of chance scoring a deer.

m4a1mustang 12-22-2010 08:04 AM

That sucks, Mike!

shumby 12-22-2010 08:06 AM

I hit a yellow lab doing 80 on the freeway in my previous car. Let's just say the car was devistated, the wife was in tears, and I was in full panic mode when the car got air from the poor fella going underneath after the impact. Fortunately everyone but the furry guy came out ok.

spearfish25 12-22-2010 02:37 PM

^poor lab. You a$$hole! :)

bullitt5897 12-22-2010 03:13 PM

Mike I know you like to hunt man but lets keep it to small game like cats and squirrels with the cars... ok... hahaha j/p bro! Sad to see that happen! I was on Grayson-New Hope rd when an 8 point bout nailed my driver side door window... bad thing was I had the window down!!! I beat my survival instincts and hit the gas instead of the brakes missed my window and the car by freaking mm's!!!! I could hear the air ripping through his freaking antlers!!! the people behind me had a chit fit and spun out... I kept it floored yelling at the dear "You MOTHER ****ER! you know how much this *HIT costs!!!" etc... etc.. etc... More kind words were shared in the car lol. Needless to say my once fun mini track got turned into "ohhh chit is that a deer?!?!" area.

I did that one day and the "dear" smacked me upside the head while I was driving..... she wasn't too thrilled I called her that!!! :)

j/k honey, I'd never use that language when talking with you.... I like sleeping in my own bed!!

kenchan 12-22-2010 04:06 PM

the biggest victory i felt in my car was when i slammed a dumb bird into the ground behind me while it flew and got caught in my G35C's vortex going expressway speeds. it literally made no contact with the car, but smashed into the ground in my rear view mirror and then got stomped on by the car behind me. i hate non-edible birds. :D

no, I can't capture it in the garage with a camera, but the whole side of the fender is wrinkled.

Crap happens.

spearfish25 12-22-2010 09:36 PM

I once exploded a pigeon that hit the roofline of my Z. No damage to the car...she just reached up and smacked that stupid bird. My Z hates pigeons as much as I do.

daisuke149 12-22-2010 09:37 PM

i love pigeons.. their tasty

KillerBee370 12-22-2010 09:39 PM

You should've tore off into the wilderness and finished the *$^&er off!!
