370z stock

Are they consider fast among the stock cars?
Like I mean stock cars... Like compared to stock evo x and sti and other regular cars... (regular cars meaning around below 40K)...
i did some research but most of em 1/4 time around 13.x which is similar to our zs...

Am I just hella wrong?

sojirovskensi 12-16-2010 01:33 AM

i believe stock timing is similar. but due to its high tuning potential, people buy evo x or sti.

yeah~~;;
i hear they very mod friendly and very cost efficient...
is it true that if u spend 10k on an evo x and 10k on 370z...
evo x will cripple z? lol...

10k on 370z will only get you a supercharger whereas evo x will be a beast.
Some ppl stay with their Z or even go for the FI because Z's exterior and interior is much nicer than EvoX, but the performance wise, spending extra money on EvoX will produce much more power than Z since it is a NA car

Yeah thats what i figure as well... as in Z looks better but as in performance evo will smoke z any day? but as far as stock goes, arent they pretty similar?

lol also what is NA car? lol

sojirovskensi 12-16-2010 01:52 AM

Naturally-aspirated engine, or you can just say without forced-induction cars (non turbo or supercharger)

JayYoon 12-16-2010 01:54 AM

so z is a NA car and evo x and sti comes with turbo?

The only cars in the Z's price-range that are decisively faster are the Camaro SS and the Mustang GT, if we are only considering new cars.

Based on just youtube vids, the Camaro "edges it out" and the mustang should soundly put it away.

Honestly, you'll get a better more unbiased opinion by just reading some of the car mags, online or paper.

kenchan 12-16-2010 03:14 PM

hey jay, with you driving your 370Z, me in my Fit with 200 less hp will be faster.

spearfish25 12-16-2010 04:20 PM

Using words like "hella" would suggest an STI or an Evo may be more appropriate for you. I've unfortunately seen some YouTube videos of Z owners who speak like that as well, but they've likely total'd their cars with VDC off by now.

red6spd 12-16-2010 04:42 PM

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkk Terrific

hey i say hella. although, i do catch myself saying it and think...god i need to stop using this "adjective". then again...the word comes up in some of my meetings with the more senior guys i work with and i forget all about it

My brother has an SS2 camaro and was running low 13s stock. Before I went FI my car was about THE SAME as his. Now its obviously not close.

C'mon now. "Hella" is how we do in Cali. It's the surfer/skater culture. Don't knock it just cause it ain't yours.

sonic370 12-16-2010 07:18 PM

maybe it's just me. but if i had 10 grand to put into my 370,and don't get your
panties in a wad because i love my z, i'd buy a vette. i understand why guys mod their cars. iv'e been there done that but you never get your money back
in value

How did the trap-speed or a roll-on compare? The reason I say the SS would edge out the Z is because SS's have run 12's stock. I have not seen a stock Z do that. I only found one vid of an SS vs. a Z on Youtube on the freeway as well. The SS sqeaks out a win. Not a big one, but it is a win.

spearfish25 12-16-2010 09:50 PM

If I said 'hella' to one of my patients, I'd lose that person as a patient. My wife would probably divorce me too.

Most SS drivers end up running low 13s and only a great driver (or lucky) will get in the high 12s stock. From a roll or dead start, my brother would beat me by less than 1/2 a car.......until I went FI and now its not even close.

Blue370tt 12-17-2010 09:09 AM

Or as the rest of this thread is sayin.....its "hella" close!

Heh-heh, sure! But he used it on a comment board, not in his professional life. I think that's ok. :tiphat:

elmz 12-17-2010 10:38 AM

I'm amazed how some Z owners think so highly of themselves, so much that using the word "hella" puts you in some sort of class. Owning a 370Z does not make you better than anyone. Besides, Porche and Merc owners say that exact same thing about us on their forums...think about that.

I don't think he is thinking highly of himself because he owns a Z. He said he wouldn't say that to one of his patients. That would indicate he is a doctor or in the medical field. And for that he may think more highly of himself. And I would too.

It is not about being a Z owner and I don't necessarily think all that highly of myself. However, use of a phrase like "hella", coupled with some folks' obvious inability to put together an actual sentence definitely makes a statement. I defer comment on whatever Porsche and Mercedes owners may say. I am not into that master race stuff.

Sounds about right. Like I said, the SS sqeaks out the win.

It is pretty funny. I don't see the attitude on the 'vette or Shelby forums that I see here, and it cracks me up that guys who DD AMG's beat on their chests WAY less about "owning a nice car".

I never got that oner. It's just another piece of society that is necessary. Yes, it pays well. Yes, you are doing something good, but so is the guy who is fixing someone's plumbing, or stocking the food, etc. Every part of society is necessary for all of the other parts to exist.
