I was on my way to vegas in 2008. Driving a POS Mustang. I was doing 90 on a 55. I ended up deploying to Iraq the next week and couldn't go to court and completely forgot to call the court. Fast forward 7 months, i remembered my speeding ticket and called the court from Iraq, my fine went from 300 to a little over 1,000 dollars and my license on hold. I paid it on the spot but it would have been nice to pocket that money instead.

I-40 is a damn mess. Lucky that didn't happen in one of the 100 mile long construction zones.

I would expect to pay a lot more than that now. 99mph on the 5fwy in SoCal, you'd be looking at $400-500. Might not be as bad in AZ or NV. But 87mph got me $349 I think it was or $389. If you take traffic school, add to that. Costs are brutal now.

I got a ticket in Vegas for doing 5 over and it was almost $200.00 I don't want any more tickets out here.

i havent recieved a bad ticket ever really, but i did go to court recently to fight a ticket and the guy before me got a speeding ticket for 74 in a 40 and his NOT GUILTY excuse was "cop said i was doin 74 in a 40 and it was really a 50mph zone, so doesnt his false ticket void my charges?" judge says "the speed limit was 40, so no sorry. $500 fine plus some other stuff. was very amusing. then a guy was there for running a red light . his excuse was "im a pilot and i would like a turkish interpreter"..... smh

174 in a 70 mph. 30 days in jail. $1K fine. Lost license for a year

Nailzs 02-22-2013 05:12 AM

45 in a 35 MPH zone. I actually had to go to driving school for that ticket. :shakes head:
That was a LONG time before my Z.

Where/what the hell were you in that you were doing 174? And got pulled over... At that speed you should have just kept going... No cop is going to risk his life to catch up with you. I don't think a cop car could go that speed, let alone catch up to someone that is. I am sorry man, i just don't buy it

Can be done going Phoenix to San Diego or back. :ugh2:

But yes, at some point they have to decide whether it's worth the chase or not, and at that speed I believe the consensus is, "No."

About 5 years back when I was young and stupid (actually still am ) I got caught street racing late at night after work in my little spec-v. Once I got on the hwy it was deserted minus one white suv a ways up yet. This trans am (pretty sure a ws6) kept tailing my *** through the on-ramp so I figured screw it and decided to give him some entertainment blowing away my little spec-v. Of course I knew I'd pull through the on-ramp corner which I did, but once we got on the hwy it was all him and he flew pass me in not too long. We both fly past the white SUV at about 100 mph and I cut it not long after. About 15 seconds later I look in my rear view and that white SUV is closing fast on me, then I see the red and blue lights from inside the car go off, at which time I'm yelling "YOU GOT TO BE F*CKING ME!" He ends up getting in front of both me and the WS6 and pulls us over. I couldn't believe I got handcuffed and arrested, it was only a little race but at the time I didn't realize how serious street racing was. Cop nailed me with "Drag racing", "Reckless Driving", "Speeding 45+". Long story short I ended having to pay big money for a lawyer and he was able to drop all the tickets and left me with a "Speeding 29+". I learned my lesson after this for the most part.

I've got a pretty good one here :shakes head: I was heading to Lake Travis pulling a small Four Winns inboard/outboard with a 1999 CR-V. A cop pulls me over and tickets me for not having extended mirrors and expired boat registration. That entire day was crazy... see the last spoiler for details... but the result of that ticket was huge pain in the a$$ :ugh2:

Taking care of the ticket:
( Click to show/hide )
I tried to make a long story short, but it just wasn't happening. It was my friend's boat, and he took over payments from one of his friends when they left the country for work. After the boat was paid off, my friend had no contact with the original owner and couldn't easily get the boat title switched to his name. He spent about a year corresponding with the county about registration, but they were just completely incompetent it seemed. He finally got what he thought were the right forms and sent them in with additional required documents. He sent everything in, including all the correspondence during the previous year, and several weeks later they emailed him and told him they would be sending the title by certified mail. He never received it, but just said fvck it because he was sick of dealing with those bozos. All of that happened several years prior to my incident.

Since it was my friend's boat, and he's a great guy, he took full responsibility for everything involved with the ticket. The mirror part was cheap (and he can afford it anyway), but he was going to have to figure out the registration stuff. He called the county only to find out they never switched the boat into his name. It took 6 months after sending them all of the same materials he had sent years earlier for them to respond that it was done and they would be mailing him the title. Meanwhile, I had requested an extension on my court date, which they granted after my explanation of the situation, and gave me a new date about one year from the original ticket. The court told me to send in everything as soon as we heard back from the county, because they can verify the registration internally. This allowed me not to have to wait for the registration to come in the mail and make a copy to send to the court. After we thought the registration was taken care of, I sent a huge envelope of documents to the court, paying the ticket, and providing all of the evidence and correspondence related to that boat ticket. This was probably in February or March at this point after the ticket was given the previous summer.

Fast forward another six months to September, and my parents receive a notice there is a warrant out for my arrest (my ID had their address still, but I wasn't living there). I got a very concerned phone call from my mother, which was entertaining, and I immediately called the court to ask what happened. Basically, the county fvcked us by jerking off at their office instead of doing their jobs. I raised hell and talked to anyone who would listen. The court finally confirmed the registration was taken care of, and I didn't even have to see the court in person. But at the end of the day, in addition to the original fees paid, plus the registration costs, they slapped me with a $200 warrant fee and a fvcking completely bull$hit $500 court cost fee even though I never even stepped foot in a courtroom (probably because I was an pain in their a$$ for the two weeks it took them to straighten everything out - at one point they wouldn't answer the direct line and I called 15 times in a row before an assistant answered very sheepishly that they did not yet have an answer for me like they promised). Thankfully, my friend makes very good money, and he just went ahead and paid the fees to be done with it. I would have fought that court cost fee just out of principle, but since I wasn't paying it, I didn't have the incentive. At the time, I was also just relieved to be done with the whole mess. The worst part of that lake day wasn't even the ticket...

Lake day craziness:
( Click to show/hide )
So the day starts with the ticket right before we get out to the lake. During the day, a friend takes a tumble on Sea-Doo and toughs it out though he is in obvious pain - we find out later he actually fractured several ribs. Then on drive home, I was taking a left hand turn through a stop light (I was stopped at it first) and about 3/4 through the turn, the steering jerks suddenly. I struggle briefly to maintain control and immediately pull over as much as I can being there is no shoulder and a drainage ditch on the side of the road. As I'm pulling off the road, I see something fly past me on the passenger side - it was tire from the trailer  Everything was fine and we got the trailer towed to the boat place to store the boat and have the trailer repaired. Talk about an adventurous day

Here's my friend and his boat and his trailer sans one wheel (all five bolts sheered). I was preoccupied with the terrible taste of the Monster energy drink someone gave me :icon17:

My worst ticket was the 86 in a 55 I received bout 9 months ago. I was on my zx6r on a country ish road resting one arm on the tank doing 80 according to my speedo. See the 5-0 sitting there and just kept going but dropped it to 75 as that's what the car infront of me was doing. Seen the cop pull out and didn't think much of it till the lights came on. Even though I was being courteous and honest he wrote the ticket for exactly what he supposedly clocked me at, at least I didn't go to jail. However I did fight the ticket, it went from 450$ and 6 points to 180$ and 4 points.

Also had a ticket for 67 in a 45 when I had my cruise control set a hair below 60...knocked down to 5 over in court.

Friend's Ferrari. Nailed by airplane on I-15. Cops had a roadblock.
