I hate to say it guys...
but I'm thinking of trading my Z in. :shakes head:
I've had the car about a month and I have already been thinking about what else is out there. I'm not going to take anything away from the Z, I love the way it drives, I love how it sounds and it is such a sexy looking car... BUT DAMN it's small. I knew what I was getting myself into, but I totally under estimated the size when living with it on a day to day basis. I'm not a small guy, 6'3" 235lbs and it's kind of annoying getting in and out of the car, you can't put anything in it and it doesn't have back seats. Again... I totally knew and accepted this when I bought the car, but I guess you'll always want what you can't have... right? Is it just me? Is it buyers remorse? Am I crazy? To make matters worse, I'm looking at an 09 STi to replace it with which is what was next in line before I bought this car. I don't know what to do...! |
Wow... I can honestly say I have no clue how you feel. I love my Z more every day....
|
Treadmill? :D
|
How many of you use this as your only car? And my weight, doesn't necessarily mean fat... ;)
|
"Is it just me? Is it buyers remorse? Am I crazy?"
Yep, that be it. |
Would you feel regretful if it were a Porsche 911? because its even smaller than a 370Z. And I haven't heard a single owner complain that the 911 is too small.
|
Definitely not my only car, but I wish I could drive it everyday!!!

I've got no interest at all in owning a Porsche 911. :icon17: |
TypeOne, I'm about your size but the 370z will be enormous compared to my current car. :D

I don't really think it is the room for me.. that isn't really a problem. It is much better than a Miata, S2000 or a Lotus... I think it is a lack of room for anything else is what gets me. But then again... it's not made to haul **** around so it's not the cars fault. |
im 6'3 and 210 lbs. i found it comfortable to drive in, however i do have a second car. If your looking at STIs, the new ones look really nice, 4-door widebodies...
|
Yea, like I said... it's not really room for me. It's just space to put stuff I guess... maybe a little harder to live with on a daily basis than I originally thought. Everyone I talked to said it as small.. but I didn't listen. LOL

Ahh.... time to sleep now... heads been all messed up thinking about what to do.
I guess I'l sleep on it. All of the hours at work have got me thinking crazy. |
I don't regret buying my Z at all, I'm only 5'9 160lbs and I find it to be a LIL annoying getting in and out of it, but it is also my DD for the time being, I'm sure it'll go away once I get a commuter? As far as comfort i love being in it!!!
|
You do what's going to make you happy, man. Maybe right now it's knowing you have options that's fun. ..and if you were fit you could backflip in and out of the car don't give me that ;) I keed
|
I get what you are saying. I ride a motorcycle most of the time. I got the Z for a bad weather car. I don't really like riding 30 miles one way to work when it is below 20*F or in the snow and ice. It is easier to go grocery shopping when you can haul more than a back packs worth. I couldn't get by with just a bike and a 2 seater if I didn't have my bros pick up at my disposal. There are times when ya need to pull a trailor or move a TV or other furniture.
|
The only thing your supposed to put in the Z is a hot chick in the passenger seat.
I do agree that using the Z as your primary grocery getter isn't easy... but that's why I have a Jeep and the Z. |

I feel just right in the Z, anything bigger inside will feel like a waste of space in a sports car.
|
So your going to get rid of a little tiny adult car for a little tiny kiddie car? idk dude...

I test drove the STi last week just to see what the hype was about. pedal to the metal, corners, and I almost fell asleep... Last straw was looking at the bland interior. 5 minutes was too much...can't imagine having to live with that. That was just me tho.

OP, any chance you can swing picking up a beater for a daily w/more room? maybe an old pickup or suv perhaps? Then you could keep the Z and have the best of both worlds.
|
You're not too big for it. You don't want to haul stuff around. You just don't like the car and are looking for reasons you don't. Well...you don't. Get what you want. Life is short.
|
Zs aren't for everyone. One of the things I like about the z is that I can go a week w/o seeing another one.
As for space... I don't expect my Honda fit to be able to go 140 mph and corner lik e demon, and I don't expect the z to be able to take the dog and the wife on a trip. It's a purpose built car. |
I know a guy who wanted a Z but felt bad as he was your size. You're not alone.
To me, the Z feels more like a cockpit. Although it could be spacious, the internals wraps you around. The bar even takes space, the various foam surrounding the tire didn't help either, the spare could have been a collapsible one.....but no! Yes, it doesNt allow a lot of groceries. But heck, that's what sports car are all about. Get what you want. Don't feel bad. |

I'm gonna grab a 4runner I think? Need something that'll carry the dog and make through the snow on ski trips! |
i have a RX7FD , and the space inside is 60~70% smaller then my 40thZ.
im 6.1 200pounds.. the FD fits me well... the Z just makes it more better. |
or you could just get another car as a daily driver. Its a good thing I'm 5'5 160. I have to sit up and look over them huge *** mirrors when I'm at stop signs to see other cars. Some hot chick at the other stop sign saw me doing this and laughed as she drove off....:shakes head: feels bad man

I would really spend some time thinking about this. You have only had the car a month so you are probably going to lose your a$$ on a trade in (depending on what you got it for). As someone else mentioned you might be better off getting a DD. I have an old civic that I drive every day. It's good on gas, easy to maintain, and has plenty of room.
|
I'm 6'4" 200lbs and sometimes I have problems getting out, but only when people park right next to me out in the boonies for absolutely no reason what so ever. I have debated trading it in for an Evo or STI just for the four doors, however, the Z is a true sports car. Sure its harsh, small, and impractical, but at the end of the day it still gets my adrenaline going taking corners with VDC off. Evos and STIs are great because of the AWD, but the Z just has that "surprise" factor. I've had an AWD car, 2007 Audi S4, it was fun but not anything compared to the Z. Only do it if you need the room! Just my :twocents:
|
I felt like the Z worked pretty well as a DD. Ingress and egress may not be the easiest compared to a sedan but once you're in it's spacious and comfortable (that's what she said). The hatch is also pretty spacious so I never had issues with grocery shopping. I even went and bought a vacuum cleaner and it fit.
|
My DD for the past years and I love Zoe to death still.
Seen all the seasons. Not my fault if my friends don't have cars rofl. Fit em in the trunk! And also all these things your thinking of right now is something you should've thought about before buying it as your daily driver... If you do trade in you lost couple thousands already! Good luck! |

Mouse flavor FTW!

09 STI and remove the front seats. Gives you more room inside.
