depends on the qweather and if u can replace the top in many yrs

i also had a 350z touring roadster before picking a 370z coupe. I worked a lot in some not so good neighborhoods so i figured it was only a matter of time before some stupid kid slit my top.

i did check an independent upholstery shop that specialized in tops and was quoted about 2 grand to replace the cloth only. I never asked about the motors.

I do miss the top down after a long day, but not worrying about if it will still be intact while working is a plus.

I am 5'10.5" and can't drive a roadster for crap. THe seat won't go back far enough to make the clutch comfy.

I test drove both a couple of weeks ago. I thought I wanted the roadster, but I absolutely hated it during the test drive so I drove the coupe and loved it. I've had 01 eclipse spyder and 300 t-top and I love topless driving. In the 370z vert I felt really small. Kinda like the car itself was massive. It felt bigger than my 350z. I know the car isn't bigger but that was the imression it was leaving on me. Also when I drive topless, I like to rest my arm on the window ledge. The ledge is too high for me to do that comfortably. As for the coupe, it felt perfect. Felt just like my 350 except faster. I didn't feel small in it. It felt just right. In coupes I don't roll down the windows when drive so the window ledge won't bother me.

Just my impressions after driving both.

I am 6'1" and I don't have any issues with leg room or head room.

I will throw my 2 cents in (I am sure that's about what they are worth). I didn't buy the roadster for a track car. If I was looking for a track car, I would have purcased a coupe. My Z32TT is my track car and I have put a lot into making it fast and it is. That being said, the 370R is still a sports car and can be driven like one regardless of what others have implied. The chassis is pleny stiff enough for that.

Soon, I will start mods on the ZR and I am sure she will take them as happily as the coupes. The first of which will be my xmas. Eventually, there will be a TT kit in her future.

I have 7500 miles on her since July and at least half of them have been topless. Wouldn't have it any other way. Albiet, if I want to drive 160 with the wind in my hair, I'll drive the fast car with the T-Tops out. (that sounds like you are in a helicopter, btw) :ughdance:

I'd be willing to bet that's for the harware and the cloth top. I had a bolt strip out on my 350Z top (slightly different than the 370Z top) and Nissan quoted me $8,000.00 to replace the bolt. This was because they didn't sell the bolt without the entire top kit.... stupid I know.

I did have my top replaced on my 350Z and it cost me around $2,300.00 for a job well done. I suspect the 370Z top replacement is going to run you a few more bucks.

I wanted a coupe, but purchased a roadster.. Is that weird? I like them both if I could have both I would. But after weighing out the things I enjoy the most my conclusion is..

Cruise control top down 85% of the time..
Top up racing like a stillen loaded bad*** 15% of the time.

So with the roadster. I get the perfect % of both worlds.

I feel safer leaving things stored in a coupe, even if I'm leaving it parked for just a few hours (CD's, insurance papers, new purchases in the trunk etc.). Some bums wouldn't think twice about cutting your soft top for a few sparkly nickels if given the chance.

I like the coupe better. There's a lady that drives a pearl white 370 roadster in my city, and I have to say, it looks much better in real life than it does online.

All of this plus the roadster trunk is miserable compared to coupe and no room for spare. Only tire goo.

I find I like the idea of a convertible more than I like driving in one...

That said, if Nissan builds a PRHT Z35 I'd be into it -- loved the look of the G37 they made with that. Best of both worlds :tup:

I was wondering why is the roadster is quieter as I drove one the other day.
The ride is much softer and less road noise.
I always thought the reverse would be the scenario.

But I still love my coupe. I hated the rear trunk lid of the roadster looks like its been sliced of prematurely.

Don't know where you got that from. In my roadster I have a spare tire plus a full size tour golf bag in the trunk. There's a space under the floor in the trunk actually that has space for the tire, a compressor, patch kit and a few dozen golf balls.



It's pretty simple really. You are either a roadster/convertible guy or you aren't. It's like being a motorcycle, RV or boat guy. When the car is moving and it's at least 40 degrees outside, my top is always down. If its 75 degrees with no humidity and you think to yourself "today would be a great day to own a convertible," You aren't a convertible guy. This is my 4th convertible in a row over the last 20 years and my next sports car will also be a convertible, either a Boxter S, Corvette or new Z.
